« Bathroom was not very clean and blinking strobe light from smoke detector right above the bed, hard to sleep »

« Very clean place, you might want to look at the ceiling fans. »

« Great spot! »

« This historic location was an amazing home base for our girl’s trip to NE Iowa. It’s clean and such a unique place to stay. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of room for the four of us. Our favorite part was people watching from the sun room area, although margaritas on the back patio were a close second. :) »

« The property is a beautiful historic building. It is well appointed and absolutely lovely. The community is charming, and the opportunities for outdoor activities abound. The host was so helpful. The bed was incredibly comfortable. We definitely will stay here again! »

« First time using Vrbo and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The space was a cute little spot right off the main road, making it super easy to get to everything. The house was clean, well-lit, and had such a cozy feel - especially the super comfy bed. The host was incredibly easy to communicate with and very quick to respond, which made everything smooth and stress-free. Would definitely stay again! »

« Expected a stove and kitchen sink for the price. »

« The converted jail was such an interesting and unique place to stay. The property is beautiful, the house and room were clean and inviting, and the cell block was a great place to hang out and explore. We loved morning coffee on the balcony and the fabulous whirlpool tub for relaxing. Make sure to check out the incredible food at the local Algerian restaurant, and a lovely river walk, or explore the four story antique mall in town! »

« Good location, a bit noisier than I expected due to trains during the night and some construction. Close to Yellow River Forest, Effigy Mounds and Pikes Peak State Park. Comfortable furniture and bed. Kitchen area includes microwave and small fridge, no sink. Looked like a nice fireplace which I did not use. Shopping, but few restaurants of note on main street; a couple of bars and one gourmet store. Kwik Star right across the street which was convenient. Host was friendly and accessible. »

« Super clean, cozy & everything we needed. Centrally located around lots of fun places to visit. Pet-friendly was a huge plus:) »

« Wonderful historic location. Host provided thoughtful extras that we didnt think to bring. Our only suggestion would be if you prefer a softer mattress I would bring a mattress pad. »

« The apartment is spacious, very clean, and comfortable. It features beautiful views of Elkader. The location is in easy walking distance to the shops, restaurants, and riverfront trail. I hope to stay again. »

« This property is well appointed and has a beautiful view of the river. There were 10 of us staying and we had plenty of room to relax and have privacy. The location is great for fishing, boat rental, and it has a convenience store very near. The train tracks are near which adds to the charm in our opinion. Ear plugs provided worked well. I highly recommend. »

« Communication was outstanding and the stay was right where we wanted to be for the activities we wanted to do. Very clean and the support was very prompt Will certainly stay here again in the future. »

« Great place right downtown! Local places to eat and drink, easy access to everything. Bed is super comfy and the coffee provided is amazing! Also a huge plus being pet friendly! »

« My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary weekend. The house is so cute and well kept. Mary and Daryl are excellent hosts. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. The bed was incredible! I haven't slept that well in quite some time. The little book of information that the host left was the most detailed and helpful one I've seen. The house has a wonderful history that I really enjoyed learning about. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here if you are in northeastern...
