There is also plenty to do in the immediate area. Take advantage of being in the heart of the driftless region central to Viroqua, LaCrosse and Prairie du Chien. Pizza, coffee, bars, breweries and wineries are all a short drive away. Indulge in Amish Bakeries and Wisconsin Cheese outlets also in close proximity.

Hiking, biking and some of the best fly fishing around are a short throw from the cabin. Effigy mounds national monument, Mount Hosmer Park, Goose Island Campground, Blackhawk county park, Genoa National Fish Hatchery, Rush Creek State Natural Area & Sugar Creek are all within an hour away. Hunting and wildlife abound including Bald Eagles, deer, wild turkey & more.

Paddle Boarding and Boating are also excellent Summertime options. Feel free to use our complimentary inflatable canoe or explore the area with our own river front trail head starting right from our own back yard!

Hot tub is running and available year-round! For winter activities, De Soto offers great ice fishing (pending adequate ice). Winter hiking can be done locally at Rush Creek State Natural Area. This is also snowfall dependent as parking areas may not always be plowed. For snowshoeing or cross-country skiing, the best location would be a day trip (1hr drive) to Wyalusing State Park just south of Prairie du Chien where they have groomed trails. For snowmobiling, the Vernon County trail network runs through Genoa, WI which is about 15 miles north of De Soto. There is also snowboarding and skiing available about 40 minutes away at Mt La Crosse Ski Resort.
