Property/Suite: This property has been affected by Hurricane Irma so there is exterior damage visible and the pool is not in service and I suspect will not be for a long time. The suite is excellent; clean, practical and in good condition. The view is amazing. Some furniture items with metal have rust (ie. base of chair and fridge) and I suspect this is from hurricane damage. The drawer for the garbage bin was off the tracks, so it was a nuisance, but not terrible. The kitchen sink plug was broken, but again, a quick and easy fix. Parking was a challenge and there are many stairs so not suitable for those with mobility challenges. The kitchenette was great for making meals in, and the washing machine was great (I would never travel without again). Drying was good on the rack on the deck with the sun and breeze from the ocean. There is security on site, and at no time did I feel unsafe.
Owner/Hostess: The owner Joanna and site hostess Linda were fantastic. So responsive and helpful to questions and Joanna provided info with good suggestions to get started.
Value/Location: Excellent value. Due to the location, a car rental is advised, but on St. Martin, you don't just sit in one spot, you get out and explore beaches and restaurants so you will want to explore with a car anyway. It was about a 20 min walk to the main route to catch a bus, or 20,min walk to Orient Village to the bakery or small grocery store or restaurant or preferred beach chairs. Walking the beach at night is not recommended anywhere though, so evening travel by car is advised. There is seaweed at the north end of Orient. Orient is a very popular beach, but we preferred going and exploring others.
Tips: There is a great pizza place "Chez Enzo" (evenings only and closed Mondays) and Bakery "Express by Bacchus" on either side of roundabout on the main Highway at Hope Estates. Great lunch and dinner value at the "Lolos" in Grande Case.
