Welcome to The Rebel House:
Inspired by those who dare to drift off the beaten path, here is where the dust of the road meets the wild of the West. Whether you’re here to chase the sunset or retreat and revive, we welcome you to pull up a chair, drop the needle on some vinyl, and remember: the best stories start with a little bit of good trouble and a whole lot of soul.
The Rebel House is our private little oasis in a quiet neighborhood in the Verde Valley. The house was originally built in the 1970’s, and has been updated for comfort and efficiency while retaining some of its original quirks.
The house sleeps eight. Both beds are king size, and both couches are convertible. There are smart tv’s in bedrooms and the living room, feel free to log into the available streaming apps, but remember to log out when you leave!
The Desert Room features a king size bed, lush wraparound curtains, a sitting room, and an electric fireplace. The laundry room and the back yard are accessible from the Desert Room.
The Teal Room is a vibrant, uniquely Arizona space, decorated to reflect local art and energy. The bed is king size and the loveseat converts into a full size bed.
The Outlaw Room was designed to inspire the dreamers, the yogis, and the digital nomads. Here you’ll find a large, built-in desk with places to plug in everything you need. Or unplug and relax your mind with the yoga mat and light workout equipment.
The Washroom is the light and airy full bathroom with a walk-in shower next to the Teal Room.
The Outhouse is a spacious full bath with a bathtub/shower combo great for washing up after a long, muddy day on the trails!
The Chuckwagon (kitchen) has a dishwasher, brand new refrigerator, oven, and plenty of cookware. It’s ready for any meal you’re hungry for from breakfast to a midnight snack.
Auntie Sarah’s Cafe, the custom handcrafted coffee bar, is stocked with a 12-cup and single serve coffee pot, a moka pot espresso maker, electric kettle, milk frother, and more. Hardcore coffee lovers welcome!
Settling Camp (arrival and check-in)
Access: Enter using the keypad on the front door. Your secret access code will be provided to you in your welcome email!
Parking: Hitch your wagon in the driveway! It’s long enough for an RV, and two cars wide. Avoid parking out front, it’ll keep you out of the ditch and on good terms with the neighbors.
The Digital Key (wi-fi):
Network: rebelhouse
Password: iwalktheline
The Outlaw Code (house rules)
Protect the vibe. Spirits should be wild and free, but treat the walls, the records, and the neighbors with respect.
No smoking. Leave the tobacco and “outlaw herbs” for the open air, and leave the house smelling like old wood and vinyl. There is a $200 cleaning fee for any smoking inside the house.
The midnight hum. Keep the music soulful and volume low after 9pm. Outlaws need their sleep.
Train call is at 11am. Please be ready to checkout so we can prep our hideout for the next traveler.
Learning the Ropes
If you’re not sure how to use something, please ask! I’m happy to assist you.
Heat and A/C: the HVAC system is new, but the house is not. Please be mindful of energy use in the hottest heat.
Microwave: please note there is a safety feature that requires you to press the “unlock” button before you can open the microwave once food is done cooking. No matter how hard you fight it, the microwave won’t open unless unlocked if it could be full of hot food.
Smart TV’s: there are smart tv’s in both bedrooms and the living room. Apps are loaded and ready for you to log in. Please remember to log out when you leave!
Record player: pull the needle back gently. If an old record skips, it just has character. In the drawers below, you’ll find games and cards for a classic game night.
Fireplace: the electric fireplace works great and takes a gentle touch. Please, don’t use the ventilation switch on the wall, the chimney is closed until it can be repaired.
Laundry: the washer and dryer in the laundry room are new and for guest use. There is also an iron and mini folding ironing board and a table for folding.
Other Things to Note:
As soon as the sun goes down, the desert cools off. We’ve provided many blankets, but come prepared with sweaters or jackets, as well.
On the short wall of the desert room, there are linen closets behind the curtains containing extra pillows and linens, hangers, and also yard games and folding chairs available for use.
The Hot Springs (the sauna)
PLEASE DO NOT USE if you are pregnant, are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if a doctor has cautioned you against extreme high temperatures.
The temperature ranges from 64.4-149° and both the temperature and timer can be controlled by labeled plus and minus buttons on the control panel.
The power button turns everything on and off in the sauna
To listen to music, you can connect via bluetooth, USB or the internal FM radio
The interior reading light and chromotherapy lights are also controlled on this panel
The Drifter’s Map (local gems)
The Watering Hole
Queen B Vinyl Cafe: open from breakfast to dinner, Queen B is a cool, vibey spot that is opening a sushi location in town, soon!
Blazin’ M Ranch: once in a lifetime wild west chuckwagon dinner show. The whole ranch is an experience with bull riding, putt-putt, bull riding, and more! A can’t miss.
Thai Palace: outstanding food, beautiful ambiance. A local Old Town Cottonwood gem, and the yellow curry is especially fantastic.
Hilltop Deli Sedona: A popular spot with outstanding sandwiches to go or eat in.
The Mercantile (shopping)
Walmart: the nearest place (2.1 miles away) for just about everything, if you pull in and realize you need something
Fry’s: quality groceries. Great for grabbing some breakfast, coffee, or snacks for the long day ahead
Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village: you could spend a whole day here shopping, eating, and admiring local architecture, or on a day in beautiful Sedona
The Great Escape (hiking & views)
The Jail Trail: at the end of Main Street, Old Town Cottonwood, the Jail Trail is about 1.2 miles of easy, shady trail. There is plenty of parking accessing the trail across from Pizzeria Bocce.
Airport Mesa Vortex: If you plan to visit a vortex during your stay, a beautiful and manageable hike is the Airport Mesa Vortex. A parking pass from the Sedona airport is good all day, giving you the freedom to rest up, get something to eat or drink - maybe at the Mesa Grill right at the airport - and watch the sunset from one of the most beautiful spots!
Verde Canyon Railroad: Arizona’s longest running nature show! With “all age,” starlight, wine focused, and monthly themes for their 4-hour rides through the beautiful canyon, there is something for everyone.
Pink Jeep Tours: there are plenty of options for tours around Sedona, and they are all wonderful. The Pink Jeep tours are elite for a reason, and the Broken Arrow Tour really is that cool.
The Grape Escape (wine & beer)
The Verde Valley Wine Trail has been getting a lot of attention for the incredible wines that are able to be cultivated here thanks to the fantastic climate and hard work of local vintners. You can get a map and passport on vvwinetrail.com
Alcantara Vineyards: offers jeep and e-bike tours, horseback riding, hay rides, and more. They grow 17 varieties of grapes, and all of the wines are natural.
Merkin Vineyards: Right in the heart of Old Town Cottonwood, the hilltop facility includes a winery and cellar, tasting room, and restaurant, all with amazing views.
Belfry Brewery: if wine isn’t your thing, there are also some fantastic breweries in the area. Belfry is in Old Town Cottonwood, and serves crisp flights and satisfying bites.
