Plenty of space in the unit we stayed in. The place is older but very clean and comfortable. Extra towels available for our group. Plenty of places for fishing nearby and their freezer space was convenient. Will be back in the future.
Basic accommodations that are perfect for a fish camp, rafting etc. we were a party of 3 and its was good. No complaints. Very basic for just what you need. WIFI only in restaurant is a downside. No TV either so you will be roughing it a little. Restaurant, bar and store all good. Stores are limited and pricey from grocery items⊠stock up in Anchorage for sure because itâs about 50 miles to a real grocery store. Several restaurants in area so you donât have to cook if you donât want to. I would stay here again though. However an Airbnb could be had for less and have all the comforts and technology of home.
Quiet & beautiful location. Individual log cabin with modern electric, walk-in shower, & kitchenette. Convenient on site cafe, a bait shop & a gift store. All the food was great, but the Chicken fried steak & the biscuits w/sausage gravy were fantastic. Will here stay again!
This cabin should only be used by fishermen who are only looking for a hot shower and clean bed. I will say there was plenty of hot water and lots of pressure. The cabins were clean but not upkept. The interior had sagging floors, the bathroom window would not stay closed and has not been remodeled/updated maybe ever. No wifi, no tv, no hairdryer. The smell was terrible when we first got there so I left the door open until we went to bed. Two of the four nights it smelled like raw sewage. Just not a place where people on vacation should stop but fishermen would probably be ok.
Gwinn's is great fun and the chowder in the roadhouse is amazing! If you are looking for luxury, Gwinn's isn't the place for you, but if you're looking for functional, clean accommodation with rustic charm, you'll love it.
This may be a nice place to stay in the summer but not in the winter. The furnace never heated the room up. When I arrived I walked up ice covered stairs and walked into a 60 degree room. When I reached out they did send someone over however, I was told the furnace is working it's just old and will take time. The space heated in the room was too small to do much. When I got up at 5 the room was 67 however, the bathroom was freezing so I had to move the space heater in there. The water was warm at best.
The listing on Hotel.com says there is a restaurant and bar/lounge that is only during the summer and not open this time of year. There are also no lights outside so walking down the stairs and in the parking area is a bit of a challenge in the dark.
