Within a short drive are the woodland trails through Macclesfield Forest, Teggs Nose Country Park and the dramatic stone outcrops of the Roaches. The towns of Macclesfield and Congleton, with their shops and restaurants, are within easy reach, as is Buxton with its beautiful opera house and summer festivals. Astronomy lovers shouldn’t miss Jodrell Bank with its famous telescope. This part of the country is rich in historic houses too – including the lovely half-timbered halls at Gawsworth and Little Moreton and the National Trust properties of Styal Mill and Biddulph Grange. This area is also ideal for day visits to some of the North West’s most vibrant cities such as Chester, Manchester and Liverpool.
