Mini Takes the States 2014 Road Rally Reno to Wendover Leg: I survived The Loneliest Road in America ! U.S. Route 50 in Nevada in July 1986 Life Magazine named this stretch The Loneliest Road in America and the locals adopted it and ran with it. Of course I was traveling with several hundred other Mini Coopers so ... not so lonely. Don't expect much cell service though. TIP: Although it is tempting to open it up on a long stretch of road like this be aware that when you get in closer to some of the towns... the Sheriffs in these parts are waiting for you. Don't mess with these guys. All these small counties seem to have a fleet of very nice and very fast police cars... How do they afford them? BIG FAT FINES from lead foots like you ! We saw someone get hauled off to jail for reaching triple digits... the Cop was quoted as saying the driver was suffering from a cranial rectal inversion. LOL... I love and fear small town cops ! One of the best things about a #roadtrip are the unexpected finds and the unplanned stops ! #MTTS #minitakesthestates
