GETTING AROUND

Thanks to its central location, \"Casa Olmo\" is well-connected to public transport. The Como San Giovanni and Como Lago train stations are within walking distance, providing access to Milan and Switzerland. From Como’s ferry terminal, regular boat services connect to various locations along Lake Como.

For those arriving by car, it is advisable to park in public paid areas located outside the central zone, as the apartment cannot be accessed directly by car. Taxis and buses are easily available nearby.

To explore the center of Como and the lakeside, especially in small towns, wearing comfortable shoes is recommended.

There are many public drinking fountains in the area, and the water is safe to drink unless otherwise indicated. Tap water is also drinkable, so feel free to bring your refillable bottle!

If you’re looking for an easy hike in the area and still want to enjoy mountain views, the Greenway of Lake Como is an easy-to-follow trail that connects the lake towns from Colonno to Griante, passing through Tremezzo. Look for Greenway signs in the area.

In Italy, many shops (especially small ones) and services close in the middle of the day, so plan your shopping accordingly.

Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. However, for those wishing to swim, there are some options. Nearby are the Lido di Ossuccio and Lido di Lenno. Other small towns also offer lakeside beaches and bars. The Lido di Bellagio and the pebbly beach of San Giovanni await those wanting to explore the beautiful town of Bellagio. Locals and visitors alike enjoy going to Nesso, where brave swimmers can jump into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall.

Lake Como is located in a mountainous region. Although the surrounding Pre-Alps don’t appear very tall, the climate is still influenced by nearby mountains, and temperatures can change quickly. Pay special attention to the weather during hikes, and bring warm and waterproof clothing!
