The hotel is Closed !!!!!

We arrived on Friday to find the hotel closed permanently and in the process of being torn down. Had to drive another twenty miles from there to find hotel rooms on our own, and pay a hefty sum over what our booked rooms were reserved at. Totally unacceptable on Expedia's part!!!!!

The hotel was in the process of closing down in a couple of days, was a virtual ghost town and the iron I used burned a hole in a new pair of shorts. It was a sad experience because I'm sure at one time it was a fun hotel.

Weekend getaway

We had a couple with us. The hotel was nice and employees friendly. It was very clean but needs updating. We were surprised at the size of the entire space and the beautiful woodwork and such throughout the facility but were saddened to hear of its SALE at auction next Monday the 10th. We were very hesitant when we arrived to see a HUGE sign at the entrance saying AUCTION OFF JULY 10th. We didn't know if we would be even staying. The pool and hottub were great but the pool needed a good cleaning around the sides. I am sure they are very low staff with closing so soon. It would be a wonderful place to stay again if they stayed open. Also they replaced our hair dryer since it burnt up immediately and the refrigerator was not working. I know they costs are high but if they were to do a major scrubbing, new paint, and some new bedding/towels, it would be a continued hit as it was packed when we arrived and was so all weekend. We were disappointed that there was no restaurant any longer, bar or putt putt items to use. We so looked forward to the ice cream parlor but we were told most of this has been closed for years. SOMEONE help this place and remarket it with some TLC....IT WILL BE A HIT AGAIN!

Awful! Hotel was in total disarray and construction. The hotel is basically falling apart. Restaurant was closed for hot breakfast the day before. Parking lot was covered in watery green slimy film that was under our car when we got in and had to walk through. Room was falling apart, beds and pillows uncomfortable. Common areas were hot and stuffy. Doors stuck and keys never worked. Front desk said they would get me in early and would call. We ended up checking in late and no one ever called. Very disorganized and trashy and not even close to being worth the $125ish I paid for the night. Yuck!

Not what it once was

This hotel is in deteriorating condition and is scheduled for sheriff's auction in July according to a sign posted in front of the entrance. The staff says the property is bankrupt. One elevator is completely shut down and the other does not work reliably. Since we booked prepaid for a 2-night stay we asked for a first floor room for the second night. We were given a room adjacent to the indoor pool. It was dismal and dirty with no window to the outside; reminded me of a cheap old motel along the interstate.

Complete disaster

A bug on my pillow, the elevators were conveniently out of order, rotten food and trash behind the nightstand. Very rude staff. I have photos but can't get them loaded

The bedroom vent was dirty and we asked that housekeeping take care of it. They never did. Had one bedside lamp that didn't work. They made an error in an adjustment on my card twice instead of once.

Few redeeming amenities may not be worth it

To start with the good, the recreational amenities were the ONLY plus to this facility. I thought the rec area decor was quaint, the pool, billiards tables, putting green, Jacuzzi and game room were nice. That's where the good ends unfortunately. Our reservation could not be found in their computer system because it kept crashing. Although there was a print out copy available, they could not immediately get us a room despite my multiple calls in the weeks preceding that successfully confirmed the reservation. Furthermore, I was told prior to my check in date that the hotel was sold out and an upgrade was not possible. However, during the chaos of my check in, I was told a deluxe king suite was, in fact, available and because of the reservation mix up, they would put us in a room on the 4th floor instead of on the 4th but would not comp us a free upgrade despite their mix up. ??? I thought they were "sold out"? For the record, do NOT book a room on the first floor. Many of those rooms are on the periphery of the pool and rec area and would likely be very noisy and disruptive to resting guests if the hotel were, in fact, at full capacity. I'm not sure what the hotel defines as "sold out", but by the number of guests we saw, and cars in the parking lot, the hotel could not have been sold out or even close to it. This hotel has so much potential, but they are so far from reaching it in regards to customer service and general maintenance. Not dirty, just not well maintained.

Sweet little get-away.

My girlfriend and I got engaged this past weekend and took a little trip to Columbus to stay at the Clarion. We had such a fun time swimming and hanging out in the hot tub. Super clean and perfect temperature too. The hotel is so neat and cozy. We would definitely recommend it and will be back next year hopefully to have another mini-vaca. We live in Indy so it's only about an hour away for us.

Quaint charm

We stayed here last minute. It's a cute little hotel that looks like a European town. We were pleasantly surprised. The hot tub and pool area was nice as well and staff were amazing.
