Traveled all the way from the US to spend New Years with my wife’s family/relatives. Some of which I was meeting for the first time. I Received confirmation number from VRBO to stay at this property. After leaving San Jose, I had no WiFi while traveling to Montezuma. Upon arrival my wife & I were told that we had no room but the other family members were fine. First the Host blamed me for not answering her phone messages! After discovering I had no service, she then blamed VRBO’s for double booking our room. As an owner of rentals myself, I know it’s impossible to double book my units with outside platforms unless you forget to sink up the calendar. After a heated discussion we then discussed that she had another request come in from a family who wanted to stay for a month. We on the other hand we’re only staying for 3 days! Big difference in revenue!! Her solution was to let us stay for one night and she would find us an alternate location for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, which ended up being in another town, separated us from our family & leaving us with no transportation!! I explained to her that she should put the second booking in that location for those 2 nights & move THEM to her property for the rest of January & Let us stay with our family. The best she could do was offer us that night free but insisted that we had to leave the next morning. Everything was booked for New Year’s After searching all night, finally ended up finding a 1 star motel a few miles away.
