The Neighborhood:
Duck Island is a small community (around one square mile) between
Tremont and Ohio City in Cleveland, Ohio. Like Tremont and Ohio
City, Duck Island is an old neighborhood. Most of its original housing
stock dates to the late 1800s. These homes were inhabited primarily
by blue-collar workers who staffed steel mills, factories, warehouses
and river-shipping interests in the Flats. Duck Island has nothing
whatsoever to do with ducks (although you may see an occasional
duck sign or banner). Most folks believe that Duck Island got its
name during Prohibition—a place where bootleggers would “duck”
the law. It’s a short drive, train ride or walk to downtown; and a
hop/skip/jump to riverfront destinations like the Towpath Trail,
Scranton Peninsula and Merwin’s Wharf. Plus it has killer views of
the city, delicious dining options, and creative cocktails to this day.
Getting Around:
Uber and Lyft can get you to where you want to go, usually with wait times of
less than 5 minutes. We are also very close to RTA (Cleveland’s public
transportation) routes. If you’re going somewhere in Cleveland, your best bet is to walk! We are a quick walk to all Cleveland sporting venues. Our proximity to downtown and the West Side is unbeatable!
Other Things to Note:
Pets are allowed at the house. If guest brings a pet and they leave the house, the pet must be in a cage until they return. To have a pet, it is an additional $180.00 fee, that must be paid before check in.
Smoking is not allowed along with any evidence of a party. If this is violated it will be accompanied with a minimum of a $500 fine.
There is also a strict no party rule. Only the guests listed in your reservation are allowed to enter the premises.
House is located in a residential neighborhood. Out of respect to neighbors, music and outside noise must be kept to a minimum after 10pm on weekdays and 11pm on weekends.
Check out time is 10am. We charge a late fee of $125 an hour for late check outs. If later than 2 hours, the rate goes to $230 an hour.
