This was a great location for the 2025 Chicago Marathon. Could watch our runner in two locations. Host was quick with replies, very easy check in/out, plenty of space and beds. There are steps to the unit if that is an issue for you but it was fine for us. We used the parking garage across the street thru Spot Hero. Would stay here again.

Location is A plus for old town neighborhood. It is a third floor unit with only steps (only issue). Overall great place with tons of sleeping area.

This is fine for large groups that are wanting an extremely basic place to stay. The beds are not comfortable. We found a couple of beds with bugs. There were hairs all around the bathroom, the couch and living room carpet were filthy. It’s a third floor walk up that you access through a walkway between two buildings. The light in the stair well was burned out. There wasn’t a deadbolt or a way to make sure the door was not accessible from outside while you were sleeping. The door to the main bedroom had been busted through. I think partially renovated is a better description for the listing that had bathrooms from the 70’s. It is near Old Town which was nice with a lot of places to eat. Parking was challenging.

Place was great for our group of 10! Close to a bunch of bars and restaurants and short uber to most attractions. There are more stairs than we expected for someone disabled in our group (4-5 flights) but we made it work

Great place for big groups!

Great rental experience for a bigger group! It’s a good location to get to both Lincoln Park and Downtown, and we all loved our stay. Would definitely recommend!

Welcome to VRBO Econo Lodge

Negatives - maintenance, upkeep and toiletries are low budget - for example: showers have not been remodeled (old shower heads), windows need cleaning and can be tough to open/close, broken lamps/fan, etc.Still use old manual round thermostats which led to HVAC issue that took 3 days to resolve (constantly blowing cold air in cold weather)Safety concerns - Entrance is in unlit alleyway between buildings and door locks would not deter a break inPositives - great location, lots of space and beds, clean, sheets/towels smelled nice, responsive host

High school kids volunteering & enjoying the big city

I am an FCA advisor at a small rural school in Mid-Mo. We volunteer every year at the Operation Christmas Child facilities. I brought 6 high school students with me. The OCC facility is about 40 minutes from Chicago but we all wanted to experience the big city since we come from such a small rural area. The apartment was just as shown. We struggled with finding a parking spot as we drove a 10 passenger van but Dan does state that on the rental info there is no designated parking. We found a parking lot a short walk away & it worked well. There is a parking garage closer but the van wouldn’t fit as it was too tall. We got to the apartment at night & struggled to find the apartment door. There are pictures attached to the check in info. I just wish it would have said the apartment door is IN the gangway as we just kept walking by it in the dark. While we were struggling Dan was quick to respond to my messages.We all enjoyed our stay!

Great spot for family break

I loved the space and our location to the attractions we visited. There was room for everyone. Dan was very responsive and handled all of my issues. The stairwell had an odor and the alley did not feel safe, but those are things out of Dan’s control. What he could handle he did very well. I would actually stay here again. Just have to prepare myself for the stairs :)

Chicago Marathon

Location was amazing for the marathon route. The unit was clean. The staircase heading to the unit had a strange odor. Great spot cannot beat it. The fees and Chicago taxes were steep, no fault of the owner.

Family trip

This family trip works perfectly for our 12 family members. The location was great in old town and close to beach and other good places. We only wanted a mirror outside the bathroom so we do not have to wait for someone getting out of the bathroom just fto use the mirror. Otherwise everything was good.

Great location. But the apartment not what i expected

Pros: location, clean. Lots of beds Cons: entry to apartment is super sketchy. Dark and dangerous at night. The hallway to the apartment dirty. Noise is quite loud for 5am garbage pickup. Furnishings very tired. Strong maple odor throughout the apartment during whole stay. For price we paid i was expecting it to be nicer. Location is great and it was clean. Just not worth the price point.
