Guide de voyage: District de Central Otago 2026

District de Central Otago : idées de séjour, infos pratiques et culturelles

The worlds largest swing! 70meter free fall, 300meter arc.... AMAZING!!! I was so nervous I was uncontrollably tearing up getting in my harness. This is where you walk out to do the swing. Even this took me a few minutes to walk out onto! Thankfully this is not the one that messes with you (or at least the guys I had didn't after I asked them not to... They said they don't but the others - like the canyon swing - they really do). I love this because you don't have to jump. You dangle out over the ledge, they say "ready", you say "no", they reply "to bad" and they push the button to release you. I would never be able to jump, but it was the most exhilarating and fun thing I've ever done. Highly highly recommend! (This is also the place with the highest Bungy. Most bungy's are approx 40 meters of a drop... This one is 140 meters! Which actually is suppose to be easier on your body cause the cord has more time to absorb the shock).

On the drive from Wanaka to Twizel, we drove through the Lindis Pass and were amazed by how much the mountains looked like velvet.
The ruins of Welshtown, a ghost town from the gold rush days of central Otago
The beautiful mountains on the drive to Milford Sound, with waterfalls cascading down.
