The property is on a quiet street with no clubs or shops. It feels like a movie set at night, so peaceful it’s unreal. Until you walk into the building, and realize the hostel is the club.
During the day it’s a bunch of adventurous 20-somethings laying around chatting, sunbathing, doing some remote work, etc. At night, the pool area becomes a party zone of dance music and bar games and tattoos and fun. The noise winds down around 11pm, when the majority of the residents join in on a club crawl - a smart way to encourage people to party at the hostel and then leave en masse so people can get some sleep.
The hostel has daily activities, including the club hopping at night. The bathrooms and showers are dotted around the inner courtyard, and all require walk from your room. Even the private rooms must walk to the shared bathrooms. On busy nights the toilet paper can run out - maybe have your own little stockpile. Towels are available for rent at around $16, 000 pesos. The showers are whatever temperature the water in the pipes comes out as - no water heater. That’s not terrible, since it’s hot as all heck…in fact it feels pretty nice, after about the first 30-60 seconds. I do recommend shower shoes given how many people share them. The WiFi was strong and reliable.
The shared dorms are in courtyard rooms (guarded by the front desk) with no door locks. Anyone can walk into any shared room. In actual fact, my experience was that it was safe and respectful.
