« Family of 5 with 3 college age kids. This property was just as advertised. It is clean and simple but nice. Property has 2studio apartments and a rooftop terrace. No hammocks as in pics. The 3 kids took the downstairs floor with two beds and my husband and I took the second floor. No air conditioning but not needed with the ceiling fans and screened windows opened. « This was a great place if you want to truly feel like you are in the jungle. The last part of the drive was a little scary but we were fair warned, so no problem. From inside the house, we saw a monkey, two Coati’s and out by the car we saw an Agouti and her babies. The house was clean, a few spiders but to be expected in the jungle. « This property is absolutely beautiful and everything you see in the pictures. The views are incredible, the bird watching from the porch provides hours of enjoyment, and the accommodations are very comfortable. Our family enjoyed the pool and leaving all the sliding doors open to feel the cool breezes of El Castillo. Even though it is listed in the description, I did not realize the property didn't have air conditioning and was initially concerned, having just come from the coast where it was...

« The Villa was wonderful. The grounds were like a botanical garden. We saw wildlife, howler monkeys, toucans and numerous birds, from the patio! It's location was perfect. The proximity to adventures and local restaurants was ideal. We would definitely stay here again. »

The location made you feel like you were in the jungle, and we had some bird wildlife sightings from the porch, but is actually very close to the main area of town and all the main activities in the area. « This property is absolutely spectacular. We stayed in the 2 bedroom unit. It was spacious and had everything we needed. Amazing landscaping all over the property with beautiful views. Close to the hot springs, lake activities, and La Fortuna. Thost happened to be in property »

« This house was really a gem, well equipped and surrounded by nature. Just be SURE to rent a 4WD vehicle, as there are many steep and winding dirt roads to access the property with huge potholes and ruts. We knew about this area but if you have never been there be prepared for an off-road experience. Lots of birds and beauty make the effort worthwhile. Friendly and helpful caretakers. We had a lovely time:) »

« The house was very clean and comfortable. The host was very responsive and assisted us navigating the area and services. The washer and dryer were a plus. There were plenty of bathroom and kitchen supplies. The house was in a convenient location and we felt very safe. »

« The name says it all - this is the perfect getaway in the forest for a large group or family (we had 11). The house is multi-leveled with outdoor access to each level. The outdoor stairway is cleverly sheltered by an external roof, which is perfect since it's in the cloud forest and there were frequent mist showers with a gentle warmness from the forest. « Great cozy cabin right on edge of cloud forest. Very comfortable. Could see outside from almost everywhere in house. Wildlife just walks and flies right by. Saw almost as much wildlife from the windows and balcony as from guided tour in cloud forest. The hummingbird feeders totally worth it. Raul was incredibly friendly and helpful and his son provided an amazing guided tour in the cloud forest. Awesome stay! »

« To stay here a car is the best way to go—it’s located on a lovely property a bit outside of Santa Elena proper—not walkable to the Cloud Forest and other things we wanted to do, although only a short drive to coffee tours and a nighttime wildlife tour. The house is beautiful in a very contemporary Latin American style. Nice pool, but it was a bit rainy when we were there and sun breaks did not correspond well with when we wanted a dip—but we can’t blame the hostess for that »

"Unique vibe in this place! The bar, the restaurant and 7 rooms including our are in a 1881 building with beautiful wood all around and a very special feel! They built a big roof over this and other building so the lobby feel like you're inside and outside at the same time! Pool and jacuzzi were nice and they have trails around to enjoy the nature and the view. It's too bad we can't see the volcano often because of the clouds. You should definitely try to be there when you can see it. Awesome view!! Service was great and we enjoyed the food at their restaurant a lot!"

"Emplacement rêvé pour se sentir au cœur de la jungle. Site magnifique et très belles randonnées à faire directement sur le site. Avons beaucoup apprécié le deck pour observation des oiseaux. Aurions apprécié un petit frigo dans la chambre. Et l’air climatisé aurait été un plus pour bien dormir. Je recommande. "
