Poor Communication
Paid for a 4pm check in, approximately 3 weeks in advance. Never heard from host. Day of our flight/stay I still had not heard from her, nor received any information on accessing unit. I sent her a message that our flight would be in at 6pm⊠and weâd probably grab our rental vehicle and dinner before coming to the VRBO at 7 or 8pm. Got on airplane and landed in Calgary. Had received a message with instructions and access code. Decided to go to VRBO first so girlfriend could change before dinner.. tried entering provided code.. not working⊠called Tina.. she said, âOh no, youâre not already there are you? We extended the check out for the last guest.. unit wonât be ready for you until 8:30pmâ⊠I reminded her that we had paid for the unit to be ours at 4pm. She stated that, âas soon as we said weâd be later, the plans changed.â I would understand extending the previous guest checkout a little bit.. but if I say that weâll arrive at 7 or 8⊠it would be expected the host goes with the earlier time and makes sure the unit is available.Also, while in our bedroom.. door connecting the upstairs unit and ours was opened.. girlfriend felt an extreme invasion of privacy.Unit itself was fine. Just some shady practices and lack of common courtesy.
