The Matcham Studio in the heart of Buxton

A fantastic studio apartment located centrally within the town of Buxton, walking distance to all the town’s amenities. The floor to ceiling windows provide a great view of the Pavilion Gardens and Opera House. All on the ground floor.

A studio apartment within this central building is The Matcham Studio Apartment, with the name and interior inspired by the architect Frank Matcham who designed Buxton’s famous Opera House.
The apartment is located on the ground floor of this recently developed Grade II listed building, formerly a hotel and public house. As you enter through the two front doors the apartment will instantly impress, thanks to the large bay window that stretches up to the ceiling giving plenty of natural light as well as views of the Opera House.
As it is a studio apartment the room is open plan and consists of a seating area by the large window, a king-size bed with a comfortable mattress and soft linens to ensure a good night’s sleep, a dining area with table and chairs for two, a dressing area and a kitchen which has fridge, washing machine and electric hob and oven. There is a private bathroom with a cubicle shower.

Located in the best spot in Buxton you are within a short stroll of the town’s many restaurants, bars, and shops. Be sure to check out what shows are on at The Opera House or the cinema. Catch the train into Central Manchester which is direct and only 1 hour or hop on one of the many walking routes that surround the town. Outside of the town you can visit Chatsworth House, Bakewell, or Castleton for a walk on the breath-taking Winnets Pass or a boat ride in the caves.
There is something for everyone and having The Matcham Apartment to return to at the end of your adventurous day is a little slice of heaven.

Elegant building, excellent central location, peaceful surroundings, nice views, comfortable bed. One kitchen cupboard was so high that we couldn't reach any small glasses or the cafetiere - had to make do without - even using the steps provided (and we are of average height). Cleaners brought stained towel at changeover day, and left long hairs on our bed when they changed the bedding. But in spite of this we enjoyed our stay.

Great location and well laid out living space. The bed was very comfortable. A small cupboard for dry foods would have been good to have and a shelf on the wall at the side of the basin. Ideal for one or two people. A robe and toiletries would have been a good touch, otherwise it was it was very good.

Perfect place for a getaway in Buxton, it was very clean and tidy and has everything you need. It’s also located in a perfect place as your right next to all of the restaurants/bars/shops etc. The apartment building is lovely (looks very grand) and the apartment itself is stunning. Lots of parking very close by (less than a 5 minute walk away) and only £5 a day. Also spoke with the property managers on the phone and they were more than helpful. Couldn’t ask for much more.Would 100% recommend.
