Hosted a milestone birthday for my husband's 50th and had family travel from afar for a cabin retreat. First night, we were grilling outside and the meat took forever because we couldnt increase the heat. After emailing, we were told the propane was directly connected to the gas line. Oh well, we finished cooking in the oven. Next day, we had plans to go boating and right before leaving, noticed a large puddle of water by a/c. We grabbed towels immediately to absorb puddle in hallway and closet on other side of wall. After emailing host, someone came out to flush the blockage due to lack of maintenence. We washed the towels so we wouldnt run out. Finally off to the lake..We came back only to find out we had no hot water. Several took very cold showers, young and old. I felt so bad. Additionally, my mother-in-law was cooking and the stove went out. We brought groceries to the cabin to make the birthday dinner and it didnt happen. Resorted to buying food to bring back to cabin to feed our guests and some ate leftovers. Another email was sent to host and she had gas company refill the propane but it was already too late. It was low which explained the first night. After mentioning all the above, the host said we shouldn't have stayed if we wanted a refund. She made it seem like we just wanted a "free stay" when all i asked was to make it right. Tell all 30 guests to leave? How rude. Did not pay to have all these issues. Also, black mold on ceiling? Better get that checked.
