  • The walkout finished basement at Moonfire Farm is a cozy 2bdrm apt with full kitchen. It has a patio with views of the animal pen with alpacas and goats prancing around. Free range chicken eggs to pluck from the coop. Always cool in the summer. 2 miles from Preddy Creek- a county hiking area with cooling waters close to the parking area. 30 minutes from Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park. We specialize in the farm experience. You might find chicken poop on your front stoop but you can also take an alpaca for a stroll around the yard. We have a zip line and swings for the kids and a firepit for those who want to do smores and enjoy the stars. High speed WiFi ! Luna our livestock guardian dog will probably greet you when you pull in (right side of the driveway). We do not currently have wifi but we are expecting to have it by January 2023

The property is very nice! Had no idea it was i in the middle of the woods so that Was a shock. But the accommodations was very nice and the host was very nice and helpful. This is a nice spot if you enjoy camping and animals because he has chickens and ducks!

Three generations, my daughter, granddaughter and myself needed an escape, we found it here. A much needed mental break. The quiet and peaceful environment with lots of conversations and hugs from the farm animals. Very welcoming and cozy stay. Had everything you could possibly need. The beds were great, very comfortable. The enclosed screen porch is where we spent our mornings and evenings. My granddaughter enjoyed the pool the most and we couldn’t get her out of it.

The property and the hosts were amazing! Such kind and caring people, the apartment was fully stocked with everything needed such as snacks, drinks, cooking utensils, and even bathroom products! We absolutely loved our stay and guard dog Luna is the sweetest ever!

I purchased this trip. The owner took my money. Then, after I thought all was set for our trip, the owner completely cancelled our stay, citing that s/he thought I was asking for May of 2027, not May 2026. This was well in advance so why s/he thought I was looking for 14-15 months later is not understandable. I never saw the property,

Fun time on the farm

Great rooms, excellent host, clean, well stocked with all you need. Animals very friendly, outside space very comfortable, & kid friendly. Recommend for family get away.

Amazing Find

The farm is just a wonderful place. Love how the animals are all around and very cute. Lovely scenic area. The two bedroom walkout basement is very nice and clean. Wonderful stay only complaint was we made a reservation for one night next time we will be staying longer.

Lovely farm visit

Our family of three had a wonderful stay at this cute farm. Our hosts were great and showed us around their collection of alpacas, goats, chickens, and ducks. The rental unit is clean and comfortable and was well stocked with drinks and snacks.

Fun farm trip

We had a great time! Our two year old and four year old loved all the animals. They enjoyed feeding them and picking fresh eggs. Very clean and laid back. Had everything we needed to cook meals and have a comfortable stay.

My partner and I celebrated our anniversary at this farm! The hosts were some of the sweetest people we’ve ever met! It truly was so hard to leave this property because it felt like home the moment we arrived. Would definitely come back any time we want to get away or just are in the area!

Had a great stay

Great hosts! The apartment is clean and comfortable. It was so relaxing to stay on the farm and watch the animals. My kids enjoyed the pool, the duck family was adorable, and one of the alpacas came up to the fence for me to pet it. If I get back to the Charlottesville area I would stay here again.

A wonderful getaway with out young kids

Our young family throughly enjoyed our stay and I wish we had had more time to enjoy more of the property as we spent most of our days out with the friends that we were visiting. This place was perfect for our family of 4. Each room has a ceiling fan which is great for the hot July weather. And I greatly appreciated how well stocked everything was as I forgot shampoo for my children and there were two options for me to choose from which was so helpful. We will certainly stay here again.

Wonderful visit!!!

Only wish we could have stayed longer. The place is spotlessly clean and much better stocked than any hotel anywhere. My granddaughter (8) didn't want to leave all the animals. It was much better than a petting zoo.

The property was absolutely gorgeous inside and well stocked. The hosts were accommodating and even iffered to let us feed the animals. We will certainly return.

Fabulous getaway

Everything was great - from the warm family welcome to the serene setting to the fully stocked bathrooms and kitchen, ensuring if you forgot something you were not stuck! Stuart, Christina and PIppa were lovely and could not have been more helpful and welcoming. We will definitely check this farm out again - could not have been more fun!
