The space
Our thoughtfully remodeled, 2-bedroom home is in the heart of Bar Harbor's fun-filled downtown. This fabulously appointed second-floor apartment boasts a private entrance and a primary bedroom with a cozy seating area overlooking Cottage Street, which makes for a perfect place for your morning cup of coffee. It also features an in-unit washer and dryer, a full kitchen with a dining area, a granite-topped island, stainless appliances, air conditioning, a propane fireplace, and more.

Your home away from home contains all you need for a comfortable getaway once you've seen all the gorgeous local natural attractions. New kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms; everything has been completely remodeled and is sparkling clean, using enhanced cleaning procedures.

Kitchen: New cabinets with white granite countertops, mixed metal finishes, stainless appliances, and all the cooking and dining essentials for meals up to 6.
Guest access
Our unit is centrally located in the fun, lively heart of town, in the center of dozens of restaurants, bars, and shops. As such, some street noise is unfortunately unavoidable, especially in peak season. While we have never had trouble, exceptionally light sleepers may prefer the 2nd, off-street bedroom.

**Complimentary breakfast is available during restaurant hours, mid-May to mid-October.
Other things to note
PLEASE NOTE: OFF-SITE FREE parking is available. It is a 10-minute walk from the apartment.

Cancellation Policy:
100% refund (minus a $35 non-refundable processing fee) if the reservation is canceled at least 60 days before the arrival date.
50% refund if the reservation is canceled at least 30 days before the arrival date.

  • The Criterion in downtown Bar Harbor, Maine, does not look very much from the exterior, but it is a glorious, well-preserved Art Deco style theatre. Opening in 1932, it has served the town of Bar Harbor as a movie palace ever since, accomodating such prominent families as the Rockefellers on their vacations to nearby Mount Desert Island. Kept in fantastic condition over the years, the theatre still has most of its original interior: seats, curtains, and even the original lighting board for stage performances. Best location. Large property downtown. Great touches such as well appointed kitchen with spices and oils, all bath products, extra blankets, porta crib, air mattress. High chair, tons of towels. Was able to walk to shopping, dining, biking and kayaking. We struggled with parking. We were here on holiday weekend, Indigenius Peoples Day. Arrived late Saturday and all parking was full. Ended up parking about a mile away. Since we moved our car, struggled every time. The recommended lot was full. Inconvenient, but not a deal breaker for us. The breakfast included was nice, but plan ahead as can be long wait. Bring ear plugs. Loud bar across street that was very popular. Ear plugs worked to allow you to sleep at night if you go to bed before 2am.

Our stay was wonderful. VRBO was huge, much bigger than it appears in the photos. The blue room is like the size of 3 rooms. Kitchen has great supplies. Location was perfect, right in the middle of town. This is being picky, but the only downsides were that the couch was really uncomfortable and the stairway smelled terrible. Other than that, it was a flawless experience. The host was wonderfully and communicative. The check in and out process was easy. Totally recommend and I would book again in a heart beat.

The title of the listing says it all - the location was perfect! Right in the heart of everything and steps from so many different dining and shopping options, including the breakfast right downstairs (which we took advantage of several mornings!). I noticed some earlier reviews talked about noise and lights from the businesses across the way, but the main bedroom had solid curtains and we weren’t bothered by any excessive noise at all. The unit was comfortable and well equipped with new firnishings, and the master bed was amazingly comfortable! Would definitely stay again.

Perfect location for Bar Harbor stay

Thanks so much for a great stay. Plenty of space for our family of five and can’t beat the central location. Host was responsive and having a place to park was incredibly helpful. We also loved the breakfast right downstairs. We didn’t have any problems with noise as mentioned by other reviews. We would book again if in the area!

Loved the apartment! Location is great, walk everywhere. The included breakfast was very nice and loved just walking downstairs to one of the best in town. Things to note-central/convenience has a price-Main bedroom is on the Cottage St side with lots of action including bars with live bands. Suggest earplugs or use your phone for brown noise if you go to bed before midnight. The breakfast place is not open at night(nice) but opens at 6 am. From the main bedroom every time the business’s front door closes it sounds and feels like it slams, shaking the wall/glasses. The back bedroom also hears the music from the restaurant . If you’re an early riser, no problem. We did suggest to the restaurant that they get a soft close door. Compared to other rentals I saw, this is definitely one of the best. All things considered I would definitely stay again.

Everything you hope a rental will be. Clean, centrally located, no long check out chore list. The free parking was a half mile (pleasant) walk but that was well communicated. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Easy from start to finish!

Great unit in the center of Bar Harbor

This is a lovely 2 BR unit in the heart of Bar Harbor. Wonderfully furnished and spacious. My only issue is that it is so conveniently located, that you can hear the music and singing from nearby bars quite late at night. But, a great place and I'd go back.

First Anniversary

My husband and I had a wonderful stay for our first anniversary. Bar Harbor is a beautiful town and this VRBO is located directly in the middle of it all. The location was perfect for walking to food, shops, the pier, and most importantly, the Island Explorer bus stops. Although a little pricey, it was tidy, warm and had everything we needed in the kitchen and extra bedding for snuggling up.

Nice roomy apartment. The hosts addressed the noise issue to some extent but the noise is actually DEAFENING at night - from the bar across the street to the street cleaners & semis that roll through starting at 0445!! Also, the front bedroom is bright as day at night due to lack of room darkening shades. The location is great - right downtown but the lack of sleep doesn’t make up for it.
