- Fabulous hotel with beautiful views of the Chaopriya river. Everything was 10/10- room/amenities/staff/cuisine. - Costly restaurants but not unexpected prices for a five-star hotel. - Hotel has free shuttle to sky train station.
Les - : EVERYTHING starting from the service attitude of the hotel staffs, cleanliness of the rooms. Not even a proper sitting area for check-in/out guests.
Situation : Things to do nearby? If you are so unfortunate to check in into this hotel, the best thing to do is start looking for other better hotels nearby.
Absolutely hair pulling frustrating experience at this hotel. - Requested for a room with king-sized bed only to be greeted by 2 SINGLE beds pushed together. Wow. - Starwood account created with my name and address all being mis-spelled. - On second night upon returning to our room, the room was not made up. We had to call for housekeeping at 12.30am and had to wait for them to clean up the room while we sat there dead beat and exhausted after being out the whole day. - In room dining food was awful tasting to say the least. - Was trying to catch a taxi at the front entrance, staff there took 10mins to notice us standing there when there was no other guest around. Such "impeccable" service and "pro-activeness". - Requested for a bottle opener but was greeted with a bucket of ice instead. - Requested for additional toilet papers to be sent up to the room in the middle of the night when all is quiet but housekeeping took a whole 40mins with 3 calls being made to the reception within that period. (We stayed on the 8th floor, not 80th floor by the way.) - Land of smiles "policy" definitely does not applied to the staff at the front entrance managing the taxi flow nor the night housekeeping group as we were being made to felt like as we were from some third world country. Unacceptable service standard from a so-called 5 star hotel which cant even compare with some 3-star ones. Very appalling standard from a Starwood hotel chain. I wouldnt wish this on my worst enemy on any day.

Situation : Close walk to boat taxi, stalls, Thai massage, and overall close access to anywhere
Had stayed 25 years ago, loved it, but this time clearly past its prime. Nice ambiance at the riverside bar remains, as well as the nice view of the river from the room. Immediate location not "nice", but central location to anywhere. Found drawers nice wood, but with big scars, wall with blemishes, and with a smell in the bathroom, likley due to mildew on the shower curtains. Hotel staff was nice, but in one instance, the Conceirge directed us to a restaurant, but the doorman sent us off to a generic "China-town", without telling the taxi exactly where to go.

Les + : Position on the river and for ferry transport; restaurant options; pools and staff.
Les - : Maybe extend the ferry shuttle hours frequency. Add overhead covering to permit dining/drinks outside during wet weather. Access to daily newspapers.
Situation : Good location on the river with all rooms having river view. Nothing to really do nearby. But hotel is very convenient to public ferry piers.
I chose this hotel for my first trip to Bangkok. It was for a weeks break taken at relatively short notice. Factors for choosing it were a combination of price, location, comfort and facilities. The overall quality is high as you would expect from Sheraton. Staff at check-in are very polite, pleasant and welcoming after a long flight and taxi ride from the airport. The hotel restaurants are good. Prices aren't too bad and what you would expect. There is outdoor dining but if the weather is bad which it often was at night it's not an option. There are a few places to eat close by, including in the shopping centre next door (which for shopping isn't much), unless you are willing to chance the street food vendors which are everywhere. The lobby bar is a good option for a quick bite. Outdoor pool areas are also good, and whilst not really big, it wasn't really crowded. One suggestion to hotel management - the garden area next to the resort style pool is nice enough but there are no tables or chairs and no one was using it. Consider opening it up as a place to relax after a swim or just to sit a relax on the grass and under the trees. Free hotel ferry shuttle to public ferry pier connects to Skytrain which is a good way to get around Bangkok. All major hotels on the river have this service. The Sheraton's didn't seem as frequent as the others. One major advantage the Sheraton has it is about a 5 minute walk to the public ferry pier. Overall it lives up to its standard.
