2 - The location is simply outstanding. Lighter Quay is located in the Viaduct Harbour precinct at the base of Wynyard Quarter. It is little more than a stone's throw away from the hustle and the bustle of the city, but provides a quiet relaxed setting. We are isolated from the noise of the central city, however it's just a short 5 minute walk to most of Wynyard Quarter, less than 10 minutes walk to the Viaduct restaurants and less than 15 minutes walk to much of the CBD. This apartment within this fully gated, secure complex is the ideal base from which to explore Auckland and it's close to the many national and international corporate offices.
3 - The layout of this apartment with 2 bedrooms has been very popular with both families and colleagues travelling for work. Comfortable beds with quality linen guarantee a good night’s sleep.
Here are 3 things to consider before renting our Viaduct Harbour Waterside Apartment:
1 - The apartment is in a residential area and close-knit community, so no parties are permitted in the apartment at all times during your stay. This applies to all residents, so ensures you will have a peaceful and quiet stay yourself.
2 - Although private, the apartment is located in a central city neighbourhood, so you will be surrounded by buildings and other residents. That’s not a downside, since the neighbours are generally a very considerate group of people, but you will be aware of their presence on occasion. Most people actually love it, since you will have a chance to meet locals and quickly strike up a conversation. Live like a local amongst locals and you will love your stay.
3 - Living in a close-knit community requires some basic rules to make things easier. We ask that you abide by these rules and that you are a considerate neighbour. By all means, live and enjoy yourself, just be mindful of noise and loud music both inside and out and you’ll have a fabulous time.
GETTING AROUND
Most of Wynyard Quarter is less than 5 minutes walk from your front door, and the main Viaduct restaurant area is less than 10 minutes.
Our place is less than a 15 minutes walk or a $5-10 Uber ride to much of the central city, including Westhaven, Wynyard Quarter, Viaduct Harbour, Queen St, and Ponsonby. If you want to catch a bus, there are bus stops within 300m.
PARKING
Free secure parking for one car is provided in a single car park space located below the apartment building. The maximum vehicle height is 2.1m. Please contact us if you have an overheight vehicle, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Bicycle racks inside a secure parking building are also available.
OPTIONAL EXTRAS
Regular cleaning. If you are staying for a few weeks, perhaps you would like to arrange regular weekly or fortnightly cleaning or a one-off additional clean. The cost is $251/visit for a clean and linen change, and $167/visit for a standard clean (no linen change). You can either arrange this in advance, or while you are staying.
Portacot (additional $6/day). We can provide Jolly Jumper Roma 2-in-1 portacots that have both bassinet and cot level. This model has passed safety tests and is recommended by Consumer NZ. We'll also provide cots sheets and blankets.
Access to the recreation centre including gym, pool, spa and sauna is from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m weekdays and 6am - 10pm weekends.
We've created a comprehensive online guidebook of local attractions that we will send you a link to after you book. You must have at least one Airbnb profile photo that clearly shows your face, and you must have Airbnb verified Government ID.
Quiet time after 10 pm. It cannot be stressed strongly enough that the body corporate has a zero-tolerance approach to excessive noise and activities. A callout for a noise issue will incur a $75 callout fee per visit for the guard service.
To reduce the amount of chemicals used, you must use the shower located within the recreation centre before using the swimming pool, spa or sauna. Please follow the other rules detailed on the recreation centre door.
You will be allocated a dedicated car park that you are welcome to use for your entire stay. Electric vehicle charging is not possible from this car park.
We also have visitor parking (for your visitors) that is only for use by visitors. Free visitor parking on the podium is only for 3 hours per day and this is enforced with clamping/towing 24/7. All visitors during office hours must register with reception and outside of office hours must call to register with Auckland Towing. If you are staying overnight, Lighter Quay considers you a resident and you may only use the visitor parking for 15 minutes for pick up/drop off. We want to make sure your group have a good experience, and getting clamped/towed and then getting pinged $300 would probably ruin your day.
Please be aware that all common areas including the podium and walkways are NON SMOKING.
No clothes drying is permitted on the balcony or to be visible from the apartment windows, a fine of up to $115/day may result, and Lighter Quay management reserves the right to enter the apartment and remove clothing from view.
For long-stay booking requests 27 nights or longer, we require that guests sign a standard "New Zealand Residential Tenancy Agreement". This gives you the same protections as other tenants in New Zealand, and helps keep our insurance company and accountant happy. After you have booked, we'll send you a link to a document that you can electronically sign.
The apartment complex management operates a CCTV surveillance system. Cameras record activity in common areas, including the roads, underground car parks and recreation centre. The recordings may be used for enforcement of the body corporate rules, and may be supplied to the police if illegal activity is suspected.
Before you arrive, you will be provided with a copy of the Lighter Quay body corporate rules, and you are required to follow the rules outlined in this document.
You are required to provide the following details, and you authorise us to pass it on to the apartment complex management. 1. The full names of all occupants who will be staying at our place both adults and children (for children please indicate ages). 2. A contact phone number of the primary occupant. 3. The licence plate(s) of all cars that will be parked in the car park.
