This is an extra-special place on a pier on the Columbia River with views on three sides of container ships and other boat traffic, and of the trolley and river walk and bubbles from the bubble man on the fourth. The kind of place where you just want to relax and watch it all. Great central location with free assigned parking. Well-appointed with everything we needed. So peaceful but plenty to see and places to eat in close by. Try Astoria Brewing right across the street. And check out shipreport.net for info on all the big ships passing by and a map with their real-time locations. Would we stay here again? Absolutely!
My husband and another couple stayed here for Reach the Beach weekend. The view was absolutely amazing, it was conveniently located to shops and restaurants, and the place was adorable! We will definitely be staying here again!
The location is right in the middle of downtown on a pier, with two parking spots included. So many amazing restaurants and shops within a short walking distance. Another reviewer mentioned crowd noise at night due to the bar next door, but they close by midnight and the is very quiet.
We stayed a couple of nights around NYE. It was the perfect location and the place itself is so comfortable and cute. Had everything we needed. Would definitely stay here next time in Astoria. Until next time...
We loved this property! The view was absolutely amazing- we felt so cozy snuggled up by the fireplace while we watched the ships out the window. Very clean property and couldn't be in a better location - just steps to so many restaurants and shops. The host was so kind and helpful, and check in/out was a breeze. Also loved that it had reserved parking. We are in love with this property!
The property is very nice. We loved the views. Reserved parking made things very easy. The location put us within walking distance to restaurants and shopping.
Love this location and the noise really isnât a problem! The house has the best view ever and is sparkling clean. Had great nights on the balcony watching the sights, feeling the breezes and drinking wine!
My husband and I spent a few days visiting Astoria. A great small city on the Columbia River, with a lot of history and good museums.
The Wheelhouse is a beautiful, clean place to stay. The location allows you to easily walk around Astoria as well as quickly get on main roads. A reserved parking spot adds to the ease of staying here.
Karen is a great host - very prompt to answer questions and ready to do whatever would help your stay be more comfortable.
We had a lovely short stay at the Wheelhouse. Great location in the heart of downtown, with incredible river views. The decor was really nice, and the apartment was spotless!
We throughly enjoyed our stay at The Wheelhouse. It is a new, thoughtfully designed, sparking clean space. Right on the water, close to everything in Astoria.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Wheelhouse on Pier 11! The setting on the water, the character of the place, and the vibe of Astoria were all in synch. Our host thought of all the details to make our time there peaceful. The highest compliment that we can give is that we would love to come back again.
The unit was in a great area - close to lots of things to do. The setup of the house was convenient and worked well. We did miss having a lamp or two in the living room. We loved watching the ships on the river. Over all we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this place.
This is truly one of the best VRBOâs we have stayed in. The location is great, you can walk to just about anything downtown. The pics showing the Wheelhouse on Vrbo are spot on. The setup is great. If you love to watch ships and people this is the place to be. Karen the host communicates very well. We will be back
What a great place to celebrate New Yearâs! Amazing river view, prime location downtown close to shops and restaurants. Clean home, with a well-stocked kitchen.
PROS,: This place is a beautiful loft apartment and the view of the river is amazing. It is immaculate and we felt safe. Beds are comfortable.
Communication with the owner was easy. Shopping and restaurants are a short walk away and the trolley runs directly in front of the property where you can hop on.
Considerations: It shares the Pier with a lounge that is on the bedroom side. It can get loud on the weekends. Not a problem during the week.
There are bistro lights that hang across the Pier which are also right next to the bedroom windows. They are on all night. These keep the bedroom from being truly dark for sleeping. It can accomodate 4 comfortably.
We found a laundromat 10 minutes across the bridge where youâll also find a great Fred Meyer, Walmart and Costco.
This location was perfect for touring the city with reserved parking on site. No need to move the car unless exploring beyond walking distance.
Wonderfull view of river traffic, sunrises and sunsets over the Columbia river.
Excellent responsive host who goes out of their way to make sure you have all you need. We were short one blanket for the pull out sofa and within one hour we had someone bring is one!
