« Lovely Hotel with restaurant. Breakfast was very nice using good quality ingredients. I particulalry enjoyed the bacon. The restaurant was also very good for meals. Location was convenient for the centre of Stevenage. Staff were helpful and attentive. »

« For a country pub, the room was very well equipped with comfy bed, excellent shower and everything I could need. Food delicious, Staff helpful and breakfast waitress in particular was friendly and caring. »

« We had a lovely stay at The Chalk Hare (end of June 2026). The staff were so friendly and the food great. The rooms were really lovely as were the amenities. The place is being upgraded shortly after a recent change of ownership which will no doubt just give it that extra star as some of the communal areas (like stair/hall carpets) were looking a bit tired. So should be looking fabulous very soon ! »

« OK for a short stay. Position close to busy road results in overnight noise. Rooms and bathrooms somewhat basic and public areas without character. »

« I am sorry to say that our stay was unexpectedly very bad. Even as we checked in the property was cold. There was NO HEATING and no HOT WATER. After many tephone calls we were told that the we boiler was not functioing. We were given grossly inadequate heaters which did little to correct the situation. It completely wrecked the evening which was the celebration of my wife's 70th Birthday. Our first night was a nightmare with no ability for us and our guests to have shower for two full days even...
