Flew into town for a boys weekend. We all got really sweaty in the sauna together. Sauna was great. Loved the cabin and the wood stove. We had all had a really good time :)
This place did not disappoint! It was a beautiful and tranquil space that provided a much needed respite for both of us. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to relax and recharge!
There were just a few small things that should be improved. First, the flies were flying all over the place in the cabin. Second, we needed more towels, but there were enough for a couple of days; however, we were staying for five days. Third, (which is hard to control) the road getting there getting there and going back and forth from Ashland was very dangerous because it didnât have a lot of railings and there were tremendous drop offs. Even so, the stay in the cabin was very nice and solitary. The owners let us feed carrots to the donkeys. That was really nice!
We booked this property to visit Crater Lake and Mt. Shasta. The check in process was great and Rachel was quick to answer questions and provide details for us. We simply put the code in and walked in.
The location of the cabin is great for us but could be remote for others but itâs important to realize there are no major cities or high rise hotels here. The drive to the cabin on hwy 66 was fabulous. Itâs paved and goes thru the National Monument.
The cabin was spotless with Rachelâs art for sell that helps raise money for the conservation of the property and animals.
The beds and sheets were great. The bathroom was a little dated but worked just fine. The cabin was well stocked with coffee, tea, spices and other items not usually found which was nice. The sauna was great and there was a massage table too.
The mules were shy but sweet and deer came to drink from the pond and birdbath each day.
There is a loft upstairs that we did not use but it was nice with a futon.
Now for the caveat. This place is better suited in the winter because there is NO air conditioning. This is covered under the rental and is easily read however the temps in this area are well over 100 many days so be careful booking this in July or August; itâs too hot and the fans do not help.
We ended up leaving after 2 days because it was 105 and would not cool down. The host would do well to put a wall or floor mini AC unit for comfort. However with this in mind, I would not hesitate to recommend this place
Letâs start with the good stuff. Itâs flat out beautiful. It was clean on arrival and the host left the lights on for us which was nice. You canât beat the views coming or going. Itâs pretty spectacular. There are also lots of coffee to pick from in the cabinets. There are also leftover bathroom needs like tooth brushes in case you forgot. Also host was VERY nice and offered us solar glasses to watch the eclipse!
Now to the bad stuff. One, it should be very clearly posted that the road going to the cabin is NO JOKE and only very experienced drivers should attempt it. After you leave Ashland itâs a great ten mile ride until you hit the S turns on a mountain side that is straight down, with no guard rail and absolutely no room for error. If you make the slightest mistake you will die. (My boyfriend says Iâm exaggerating, but I disagree, as Iâm the one who drove it every day for 7 days.) mind you itâs only 7 miles of 66 that is like this, as we drove from the cabin to Crater Lake through Klamath Falls and all was fine.
Two, when the host tells you they will turn the heat you expect that to be higher than 62°, especially when itâs 49° outside. Seems like common sense, but when you come inside to find notes on the heater that read âif you want warmer burn woodâ you immediately get annoyed. Again, something you should know up front. Also if you are requiring wood for warmth, maybe the host should provide more than split logs and ONE Diet Coke box. There is so much more

Very relaxing stay ! No noise just peace and quiet. Close to Ashland and Jacksonville, both wonderful little towns. Many animals, birds and 2 darling Mules that have been rescued!!! We would stay again !!! âŁïž
Checkin/out easy. Owner on land, in separate home, responsive to needs, flexible to family needs. Loved its natural solitude, millions of stars and friendly mules.. A bit short on spoons and smaller pans. But totally workable. Great sauna!
We generally stay in Ashland for the plays, but decided to do a rural stay. This is a nice get away, fun road to drive and the PCT was a bonus. We had no real contact with the owner, so it was impersonal but ok. The price was reasonable until VRBO added excessive administration fees, making it overpriced. Will no longer use VRBO.
I came in search of peace, solitude, and quiet reflection. I found it here thanks to the hikes and donkeys, the daily saunas and evening fires, and the precious time to write and draw. I did a lot of cooking and found the kitchen to be well equipped. Plus, the bed was super comfy! Rachel is a fantastic host and I want to thank her for sharing her beautiful sanctuary!
This home was just what we were looking for. Very clean, quiet, remote location in the hills/mountains. We were able to get away from all the busyness of life and just relax and enjoy nature.
We had a wonderful stay at the beautiful cabin!! Great place to enjoy with family and friends. Will definitely come back in the summer when we can explore the property
Me, my wife, and my 1 year old son enjoyed our stay on the property very much. The setting was very quiet and relaxing the cabin was very clean. The fireplace and the lack of a TV made for an great removal from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. My son enjoyed exploring the inside of the cabin and the cabin was very kid friendly. Outside we enjoyed the company of the donkeys and seeing the chickens and turkeys in the pen. The property contact was very helpful and accommodating to our visit. We would definitely stay at the cabin in the future.
My family had a wonderful time here. The cabin was cozy and in a beautiful location on the mountain. Wonderful property to get away and enjoy nature. Rachel was a great host and fast to respond to any questions I had. I highly recommend this sanctuary to anyone looking to stay in Ashland.
This cabin is wonderful. Its super warm and inviting while still being big enough for multiple adults to coexist. The beds are AMAZINGLY comfortable.
The art inside is beautiful and done by the owner!

Darling cabin with lots of room for two couples. You're outside Ashland up on a hilltop with nature all around. Close to the Pacific Crest Trail, Hyatt Lake, and long vistas. Easy to get to Ashland or other towns around. All in all, easy living!

Our hostess was spectacular and provided us with all the information we needed to enjoy a very special and peaceful stay in her perfect mountain cabin. We loved the wind whispering through the pines; the friendly ârescueâ donkeys; the wild and domesticated turkey and the chance to experience Summer, Fall and a taste of Winter during our 10 day visit! Next time we will plan to spend more time just staying put in the cabin!

The cabin is big , the amenities are basic,noA/C , nice location though not easy to get there in the evening.
This home is located up away from town. Very quiet and peaceful. Yes the road is curvy but take your time and its not a big deal. The road is well taken care of. The property was very clean, it was so nice to sit outside and watch deer come drink from the koi pond. We loved the mules, chickens, and dogs. The kitchen has the basics pots, pans, coffee pot, toaster, plates, cups, and silverware. If you plan on doing any extreme baking or cooking may want to bring your own. The owner lives on the same property so very easy if you need anything. The Green Springs inn down the road abou 1 mile has fabulous food and drinks. Two suggestions have more comfortable patio furniture and some end tables by the sofa in the living room. Otherwise everything was perfect. We would love to come back.
Rachel was available and responsive before and throughout our stay. The cabin was very nice and the kitchen stocked with dishes, pans, utensils etc. The setting was lovely.

A very nice 5 night stay. Peaceful and relaxing. The caretaker and owner were very helpful when we had a few questions. Plenty of hiking opportunities nearby and Ashland has great restaurants, the OSF, SOU, river rafting, and more.
The property is easy to find and the drive from Ashland is on a excellent state highway. The highway is curvy at times, but easy to drive both day and night.
The cabin was nicely decorated and the kitchen is well equipped. Internet access was also very good. We could have used a couple more drawers for clothing.
Great stay. We visit Ashland every couple years. We'll search for the property on our next visit.
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It is a very comfortable and spacious building with views of nearby mountains and the Pacific crest Trail. It is at 4600 feet elevation, so it is a little cooler than down in Ashland, but very peaceful and quiet . I would stay here again . Great property for kids to run around On.
