  • A beautifully designed first-floor room blending Victorian character with contemporary comfort. Relax beside the original period fireplace, sleep in a king-size bed and unwind in an opulent bathroom with a luxurious drench shower and views across the meadows and Arun Valley. With fast Wi-Fi, free parking and South Downs walks from the doorstep, it is a romantic countryside escape just a 20-minute riverside walk from Arundel.

Victorian character and beautiful countryside views give Room 9 a personality all of its own.

Set on the first floor of Sefton Place, this beautifully designed ensuite room overlooks the gardens and retains its original Victorian fireplace, bringing a sense of history and character to the contemporary interior.

There’s a comfortable king-size bed for relaxing after a day exploring Arundel, walking the South Downs or visiting Goodwood, along with a Smart TV with access to streaming services and high-speed Wi-Fi.

One of the room`s real highlights is the luxurious bathroom. Beautifully finished with a generous drench shower, it also enjoys views across the surrounding meadows and Arun Valley – bringing the Sussex countryside into one of the most relaxing parts of your stay.

You`ll have your own fridge with freezer compartment, ideal for keeping drinks, breakfast items or locally sourced treats chilled during your stay.

With Arundel, the South Downs and Goodwood all within easy reach, Room 9 is particularly well suited to couples looking for a countryside escape, walkers and cyclists, Goodwood visitors, or anyone who prefers the simplicity of a beautifully designed room rather than a full self-catering suite.

    The Local Area

Sefton Place is tucked away in the peaceful Sussex countryside on the edge of Arundel and the South Downs, surrounded by meadows, wildlife and the beautiful Arun Valley. It feels wonderfully secluded, yet historic Arundel is close enough to reach on foot.

One of our favourite ways into town is the scenic walk alongside the River Arun, which takes around 20 minutes and brings you into the heart of Arundel.

    Once there, you will find:

    • Arundel Castle and Cathedral – two of the most recognisable landmarks in Sussex and the dramatic backdrop to this beautiful historic town

    • Independent shops, galleries and antiques – Arundel is known for its characterful streets, independent businesses, art galleries and antique shops

    • Excellent places to eat and drink – from relaxed cafes and traditional pubs to independent restaurants, wine bars and places for a special dinner

    • South Downs walks and cycling – leave Sefton Place and head straight into the surrounding countryside, with beautiful routes through the Arun Valley, rolling hills, woodland and traditional Sussex villages

There is plenty to explore a little further afield too.

Goodwood is within easy driving reach, making Sefton Place a fantastic base for its internationally renowned calendar of motorsport and horse racing, including the Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and Goodwood Racecourse.

This is also one of the most exciting wine regions in Britain. The chalk landscapes of the South Downs are home to some of the country`s most celebrated English sparkling wine producers, including award-winning Wiston Estate, where you can book vineyard and winery tours, tastings and dining experiences.

For a change of scenery, Chichester, the Sussex coast and the wider South Downs National Park are all within easy reach, opening up everything from beaches and coastal walks to culture, countryside pubs and days spent exploring picturesque Sussex villages.

What makes Sefton Place special is the balance: countryside and nature outside the door, Arundel within walking distance, and some of the best experiences in West Sussex close enough for an effortless day out.

Whether you are here for a romantic weekend, walking or cycling, a Goodwood event, an English wine escape, a wedding or simply a few slower days in the countryside, it is an exceptional base from which to discover this corner of Sussex.
