27 acres of lush wilderness awaits you in this modern mountain escape. Hiking, bird watching and wine tasting call adventurers and relaxation seekers alike to our resort style cabin retreat. Perfect for outdoor recreation, secluded relaxation and soaking in the hot tub as you enjoy an evening under the stars. The Empty Nest is the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The Empty Nest is located along the vast mountains of Amherst County, Virginia, taking you through year-round scenic wilderness. This location is a quick commute to orchards, wineries, mountain views and countless rivers and streams.

On the main level are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with twin bunk beds. A full bath with shower and tub is conveniently centrally located for access from either bedroom.

The A frame great room is a perfect open space to entertain family and friends. Large cathedral ceilings make this space the perfect open area to unwind. The floor to ceiling gas log fireplace is the centerpiece of this space. A cozy and modern kitchen with plenty of counter space, JennAir gas cook top, oversized island, and a walk out to the deck overlooking the 28x14 saltwater pool.

The third level has a large master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. A private balcony overlooking the tree line is just steps away from the king-sized bed. Enjoy the open loft bedroom on this level overlooking the great room with queen sized bed and work area.

Experience some recreation time with the large, finished basement with an additional living area, flat screen tv and pool table.


We offer all the amenities you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. With many outdoor gathering spaces, including two balconies each with furniture to lounge and take in the scenery. As well as an outdoor 7 person hot tub overlooking the saltwater pool. Other amenities include flat screen TVs, Direct TV, free wi-fi to stream and stay connected. Enjoy some porch time or prepare your favorite meal. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or a family vacation, our cabin is perfect for you.

We stayed there for a Liberty University event, and it took us about 30 minutes to drive from the cabin to the school. What a wonderful cabin! The beds were very comfortable - the master suite has a foam mattress. We had absolutely everything we could possibly need: toilet paper, soap, laundry supplies, dishwasher tabs, etc. The boys had fun in the hot tub and the pool. We loved the quiet location too. Had a fantastic stay and would definitely stay there again!

Super lovely family vacation!

Loved this property and a huge plus was the awesome an quick communication with the owners/hosts. Our kids had a fabulous time in the pool and playing pool which were two musta for them based on our family's age range. Weather was perfect which was a bonus. Would definitely stay here again for a future getaway! Many thanks to the hosts!

WoW Just WoW!!!We had a great time to say the least. Spacious, well stocked, and clean. Shopped a bit took in the sights the area had to offer, visited with nearby relatives and friends played some family board games, video games, shot some pool, as well as enjoyed the hot tub. Splendid

This is a nice getaway spot. We were there past peak foliage, but it was still an incredible setting. I bet its super fun during pool season. Furniture is comfortable, house is cozy. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a getaway near Lynchburg.

Family Getaway Celebration

The Empty Nest Cottage was absolutely perfect for our family weekend! We received a beautiful welcome basket to begin our stay, full of wonderful treats. The cabin is so well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The cabin was not only beautiful but so comfortable, welcoming and exceptionally clean! It is in a peaceful and quiet area which made our weekend even better! The homeowners guide and QR Youtube aids were more helpful than a hotel front desk! I had reached out with a couple of questions and received very prompt responses. You can just tell that the homeowners care not only for their home but for their guests as well! The Empty Nest Cottage deserves more than five stars!!!
