Superbe emplacement à côté de la cathédrale
Cet hôtel est très bien placé pour visiter la cathédrale de Winchester de même que la vieille ville. L’hôtel n’est pas neuf, mais les chambres sont grandes et confortables. De plus le quartier est calme bien que central. Seul bémol : l’hôtel n’est pas climatisé et il faisait plus de 25C lors de notre passage. Le ventilateur était bien utile.

Tv is outdated, staff rude on our checkout. Bed sheets weren't clean. Shower leaks all onto the floor, 2 beds pushed together instead of one.

The Executive Room had a fantastic full length window that allowed you to sit on a chair and view the cathedral. A lovely welcoming slate mat with a couple of sweets in piece of fruit along with a hand written card on the table in the room when we arrived. A Lovely touch. Comfortable bed, Clean room. Shower gel / shampoo available in the room. Clean and reasonable sized bathroom. Excellent location for the city centre. Very quiet as well. Didn't use the other facilities through choice as we ate out. Parking available for a small additional charge. Although the spaces were quite small and you may struggle to park a large car. Would go back.

The property was very shabby and dated. Carpets had stains, bathroom was covered in limescale and mouldy sealant. Seriously needs refurbishment t. The reception and bar staff were polite and helpful though.

We just changed all our bedroom carpet and curtains. We are now painting the last few bedrooms and then we will start with the public areas.

Despite reading several negative reviews I booked a 2 night stay for a business trip primarily because of the hotel location. Unfortunately, with the exception of a good breakfast offering, this is the only positive comment I can make. The rooms badly wneed renovation. Mine was dark and in the bathroom the bath and basins were badly stained. As far as service was concerned, on my return from a day’s work I found my room had not been serviced only to be told that the domestic staff had all gone home. I did receive new towels and coffee etc was replenished. On checking out I was not asked how my stay was so had no opportunity to express my views. If it’s location you want this hotel is perfect but I cannot recommend it for a leisure stay.

Very poor maintenance workmen not supervised properly. Standard of repair work poor. Windows gaping and not replaced. Stains on bed linen, beds not made up properly. Impossible to access soap if in bath! Decided that to try Restaurant perhaps was not a wise move!

Room was dated. Lighting was poor. No plugs next to the bed. The TV initially didn't work when we arrived and had to ask for the connecting cables. The room was cold as it had no central heating or air conditioning. The bathroom was that clean, the shower head was covered in limescale and the floor had a broken tile.

The mercure group should spend some cash here. This hotel is beyond tired. The room was dusty, dingy, stale, dirty. The bathroom patched up with dried paint spilled all over the bath tub, dusty and rusty radiators and taps, stained grouting. Our room was in what must be an extension of the original building and therefore over the top of the carpark, accessed by a rabbit warren of corridors. Parking in Winchester is horrid but the hotel car park leaves a lot to be desired. I was forced to use on street and private parking nearby to the tune of £17 a day. I would not stay here again, no matter how cheap the room rates are, very unpleasant.

As we are a city center hotel there are a number of public car parks around the city center, we are sorry that you had to park nearby.We’ve taken note of your other comments and we will discuss this within the team.

The room and parts of the hotel is a bit dated inside. Our bathroom look like it could be all replaced cracks in basin and bath and floors , old-fashioned furniture. It was a nice stay apart from the furnishings. And room decor

Not Mercure at its best
I did stay in a compact room But it was very tired Lack of accessible plugs , decoration needs an upgrade .. shower too low … tv control missing back so had to hold the batteries in to operate .. convector heating was put in room as well as a heater on the wall ..

Thank you for taking the time to forward your comments. We are one of the few hotels with our own carpark and this is at an additional charge. This is the same as the other city center Hotels with carpark in winchester.

Great location, decent night's sleep.
Can't complain about the location, one of the only hotels in Winchester City Centre. Room wasn't the biggest but ticked all the boxes in terms of amenities. The bed was a bit firmer than we're used to but the pillows were decent (something a lot of hotels struggle with!). Room was warm on arrival but air con/heating worked well and it was easy to find a comfortable temperature. Plenty of hot water and decent toiletries. Only real downside is that the hotel is showing its age in terms of decor, especially bathroom fixtures and fittings. I don't doubt it was clean but the marks and scuffs around the room make it look a bit tatty.

Room 139 bed springs are hurd when laying down needs a new mattress, room was cold and damp no heating on curtains torn and smelling , bathroom hotwater was not hot enough no toilet brush 😑 lime scale around the bath this hotel is not or should not be rated 5 stars needs renovation work in and out very poor all round

Very cosy place in Winchester city
First time here, but not the last one. Very cosy and local hotel in the very best location next to the Cathedral and in December; the Christmas Market. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast quite expensive, so go look for this in the city which is just outside the front door.
