Un excellent souvenir de ce magnifique endroit
Très belle endroit perdu au bord de la mer avec une vraie atmosphère de petit port de bord de mer. Ballade le long de la côte. La chambre était très confortable dans une petite maison en face de l'hôtel principal. Petit-déjeuner excellent sur la terrasse face au port.

Stayed here to visit family and it’s the most beautiful location and wonderful facilities. I can’t thank Alison enough for assisting me when I messed my booking up and we cant wait to come back for a holiday

Lovely hotel,great location, bed not all that
A small and friendly hotel, set in a rural, coastal position , away from it all. Old building tastefully redecorated , room was nice with a decent bathroom. Excellent view of the coastal inlet. Caught a glimpse of the local fisherman launching and returning in the morning , right under our window Only negative was the bed, for such a highly priced room, I would expect bigger and better comfort - breakfast was ok

Cornwall short relaxing break.
Very nice room and clean towels every day. Liked having the little fridge for fresh milk and water. Staff were friendly and helpful.Meals were very good and plenty of choice. The area was beautiful for scenery and walking which we enjoyed. Would love to return oneday in the future.

Lovely yet pricey seaside resort
We spent a night in Portloe and were impressed with the location of the Lugger and the kindness of the check-in staff, who helped us get into our room a bit early so that we could dress for an event. After booking a 260-pound room at a quaint B&B, I was surprised when we were asked if we wanted to pay another 18 pounds for the very simple breakfast they set out in the mornings. Our room was in the back of the second building, so our only small window was about two feet from the next building, and our bed faced the bathroom door. I understand you can't always get the room with the view, but the rooms are nothing special on the backside. I would normally hope a 5-star hotel would have a few nice details, like a cart for the drinks so you're not balancing the kettle on the bedside table, or a nespresso machine rather than two instant coffee packets. Overall, it's a lovely stopover, but I'd only return if they offered a steep discount and promised a bit of a view.

Perfect for those looking for a quiet, peaceful, well run, very helpful staff team. The hotel is uncluttered, rooms simple and tastefully done. Breakfast is great. The location and views are simply stunning.

The staff was wonderful. The restaurant manager shared suggestions for sightseeing the first day we were there. It was a wonderful day and one we never would have come up with on our own. Everyone we encountered at the Lugger seemed genuinely interested us and sharing their love of Cornwall with us.

Gorgeous location and room. Breakfast was amazing. The only thing I would recommend is to email guests before the stay to book a table for food as couldn’t eat there which was shame. However the pub up the lane was amazing.

After big cities, it was fantastic to stop and enjoy the small village of Portloe. The hotel to excellent and the staff and food outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and our whole experience was the best we enjoyed after four weeks in the UK.

Hmmm …not what we expected.
Very mixed thoughts about our stay at the Lugger! Obviously a beautiful location, the food was good… but… The Lugger is charging premium prices!! Our de-luxe room was very small and stiflingly hot with the view of a wall. Apart from one lady who was very efficient and kept the whole ship afloat, I’m afraid the staff were woefully inadequate. One waitress was so unresponsive and unfriendly it had to be experienced to be believed. This was not the experience I was expecting having read previous reviews… perhaps we were just unlucky but we would be reluctant to return.

Exceptional Location, Great Food
The location is quite exceptional. We watched dolphins as we sat on the restaurant terrace. We stayed in the Look Out which whilst small has amazing views and we would definitely ask for that room again when we return. The food is very good and reasonably priced for the quality on offer. I would suggest that staff training could be improved. There was one lady who appeared to be in charge of service in the dining room who was very friendly and good. However the team around her fall along way short of the standard that she delivered.

Worth the journey
Really nice stay in a wonderful location. Small team of focussed people that seem to enjoy what they do, and made me feel at home. The rooms are well appointed, and the beds comfortable. The food was excellent.

Quiet little idyl.
The Lugger staff are fabulous! As I am a coeliac they were able to adapt the menu quickly and easily. Well done chef! The hotel was clean and the extra additions of milk in the room fridge and fresh fruit were very welcome. The giant chocolate cookies were enjoyed by my husband! The hotel is in a tiny village with very narrow and steep curving roads so chances of getting big vehicles is a task but well worth it when you get there. During the evening you can sit on the decking and the hotel light up the incoming/outgoing tide which is so very peaceful.

My only disappointment was the table we were allocated at dinner which was in a separate area to the main restaurant and I commented about this at the time. During busy holiday periods perhaps they should consider having two sittings in the restaurant.

Nettes kleines Hotel “am Ende der Welt”, sehr ruhig, freundliches Personal, hervorragendes Frühstück. Abendessen ebenfalls sehr gut, Portionen überschaubar. Die Klassifizierung als 5-Stern-Hotel ist keinesfalls gerechtfertigt. Ehrliche Einschätzung ….. 3,5 Sterne. Zimmer sind sehr klein, die versprochene Aussicht in den Hafen ….. siehe Fotos.

Completely unique hotel with rooms dotted around the harbour. Outstanding restaurant with sea views and incredible menu. We had an awesome three course dinner with fresh, local products. In the morning, breakfast was equally satisfying with kippers, fresh, local yoghurt and great coffee. Although this hotel is off the beaten track, we’d gladly take the long journey again. Staff, cheerful friendly and professional. Setting sublime. Lovely coastal path on your doorstep too!

Absolute gem of a hotel and in an idealic spot too. We had a lovely weekend then and will definitely book again. The staff are lovely, the hotel is immaculate and the food was very good too.
