Basic hotel but great location
It's an old historic hotel so the room is dated and basic. But amazing view facing a college. Sofa bed unconfortable should be replaced. The price is too expensive as it's looks more like a guest house. The good points: Tea, coffee & cake in the room and amazing view facing a college, Fantastic location very easy walk to main attractions .

Pas mal
L'hôtel est idéalement placé et permet de decouvrir la ville à pieds. La chambre est spacieuse et propre. Petit bémol sur le confort. Les matelas seraient à changer. Dans l’ensemble séjour agréable.

Bon de reduction ??
Cela fait plusieurs fois que je reçois un e-mail d'hotels.com me promettant un bon de réduction si je commenter mes séjours. Mais lorsque j'ai répondu en donnant mon avis sur des hotels, je n'ai jamais reçu de bon de reduction. Je trouve assez malhonnête cette méthode pour pousser les gens a s'exprimer. Mais bon pour ceux qui veulent savoir "The buttery" était très bien !

Une Guest House accueillante, proche de tous les principaux monuments ,musées et Collèges de la ville;Idéal pour visiter Oxford quand on a peu de temps Les chambres sont propres, le petit déjeuner correcte et le personnel sympathique; L'établissement est petit et très calme; Notre chauffage est malheureusement tombé en panne...Mais un petit radiateur d'appoint nous a été fourni ; nous recommandons vivement cet hôtel ( excepté pour les personnes à mobilité réduite car l'escalier est un peu raide )

Parfait accueil, propreté impeccable, localisation idéale pour qui s'intéresse aux collèges et à la vie des étudiants (parfois un peu bruyants). Quelques réserves : 3 étages sans ascenseur, petit déjeuner gratuit mais banal

Small little 'boutique' hotel in the heart of Oxford. Nice sized room, and had everything we needed for our short stay. Don't plan to bring large suitcases...navigating them with the tiny staircase would be tough! Staff was very friendly and provided all the answers to questions we had. Would stay there again.

The location is perfect, coffee, tea, water and cookies are served inside the room. We are a big family and we booked two rooms, they made no effort to keep us close rooms and we even lived on the 1st and 3rd floor. There was no hot water on the 3rd floor. The room on the first floor was crooked with the bed that would fall apart in a few nights.

Great weekend break
City centre hotel perfect for a weekend break. Yes it was noisy in the evenings, but its in the city centre. Yes the stairs going up to the rooms are creaky, but it didnt bother us. Comfy bed, good shower, felt like the room had been recently decorated. The staff kindly held our bags after check out so we could make the most of our final day. All in all, a really good stay.

Decent room, nice staff but entrance was hard to find, it's just a doorway in-between a row of shops but well worth the money compared to other hotels in Oxford.

The hotel is very well located, next to all the attractions. The room was nice and clean, very comfortable bed. I highly recommend it, you can reach both the colleagues and also pubs, restaurants and shopping area by walk.

Great overnight spot
Very central and close to the train station. The room was large, clean with good facilities. The stairs are very steep, so not easily accessible, but would stay again.

Great, top location, close to everything you want to visit. The room was big and comfortable. The bathroom was cold (heating didn’t function) and one day I didn’t have hot water. But nevertheless I would recommend it because of the location, clean, comfortable and quiet.

The hotel is clean and conveniently located. We stayed in a front-facing room which was spacious and had views of a beautiful building across the way. We were able to store our luggage for a few hours and explore Oxford more freely on our last day. Would stay there again.

3rd floor, no lift, makes an older woman out of breath. However, it was expected, and the view was very nice. Hot shower with plenty of pressure and a comfortable bed; everything I needed.

All good. The night shift person was not super familiar with finding us a chip shop, that because i don think there is one! Would be halpful to provide guets with isb chargers, it is the 21st century.

Lovely little hotel in the city center.
It is a lovely little hotel in the middle of the city. The room was large, clean, and the bed was comfy with a modern bathroom. The hotel has quite a few narrow stairs to climb to rooms. I got quite a bit of street noise in the morning. I would book here again.

Loved our stay at the Buttery. The stairs were a bit of a surprise. They are narrow due to the age of the building. We were hugely rewarded with what I think was the best view in the whole building. LOVED IT!!! Clean, comfy beds, beautiful views, lovely antique doors knobs, quirky windows. LOVED IT ALL! Thank you Buttery and staff you did not disappoint!!

This is a wonderful cozy spot near everything in the center. And for my tastes, so close to Waterstones Books. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the lack of elevator. The narrow steep winding stairs are a bit precarious. However, the staff was proactively helpful and they carried my luggage up to the room and back. So … no real problem.

Office staff very friendly & helpful answering questions. Central location is the big plus. While the old hotel has a lot of character, the steep stairs are a challenge to maneuver with luggage, especially the triangular steps where the stairway curves.
