Love the lounge area and the cleanliness. The staff can improve customer services during breakfast it would be nice they atleast announce that they are packing up especially the coffee machine while guest are still dining even thought it’s 10am. Can improve the set up asking guest their room number for breakfast, kind of tacky esp early morning. Feels like your trespassers when they ask for your room number. Overall the front desk are all friendly esp the night shift..love that they locked the front door during late night to ensure the safety of the guest and property. Overall, we love our stay. We will come back.

An average hotel in the heart of the city centre. Weekends can be a little noisy with the usual drunks but this can also be quite entertaining also. Parking nearby can be expensive.

Staff are friendly and mostly professional. Left my umbrella in room, in wardrobe behind ironing board, and told it is not there; twice. I am not convinced. Room temperature controlled centrally so had to call Reception every time.

All good except the lack of car parking. Multi storey 150 yards away, which if you have a disability makes it a difficulty. The cost of the overnight parking cost me £11!! Really good breakfast, english and continental. Staff great.

The food let’s it down
Place is nice, staff are friendly. Food is terrible though. I had dinner in the restaurant and couldn’t eat my main (it was a salad, not sure how you get that wrong) and the starter was so over cooked the chicken wings were black and dry as a duvet. Breakfast is similar, overcooked eggs and fresh tomatoes that look like they’ve been dried out for preserving

Nice hotel. Room clean. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast very good staff very attentive Only possible issue was that the bathroom fan of 242 didn't seem to work. Upset that the bar charged my wife over £6 for a glass of wine - without asking which price range she would prefer. £10 for 1/2 cider and a glass of wine seemed excessive, otheriwse no issues

I had a accessible room at this new Holiday Inn hotel, this property is fantastic and in line with what to expect from the brand. A decent enough bar and breakfast. If needing to be back up in the area its close to St Peters & Sunderland Metro for Newcastle so would get my recommendation,

Excellent modern hotel
Super comfortable, modern hotel with great rooms and a lively vibe. I don’t want to say it was a surprise to find such a modern hotel in Sunderland, but the hotel exceeded our expectations.

Staff were very friendly and so helpful would like to mention Andrea from the ground floor coffee shop she is a so helpful and nothing was too much for her

A good choice for Sunderland (or for the GNR)
Clean, modern hotel with decent size room and good amenities. Staff were all helpful and friendly and the restaurant food was good. It's really well located, near to the metro and bus stations (we stayed for the great north run and it was easy to get to and from the start and finish). It's a shame it doesn't have its own car park but the one they use is only a few minutes walk and works okay.

They have got building work going on and after checking in all I could hear was drilling and hammering so I couldn’t do my work and ended up with a terrible headache. I contacted reception and asked what was going on and why we were not advised about the work and noise and they were not bothered. I also asked to speak to a manager and was told they haven’t got one. I wouldn’t go back

Apologies concerning any disruption from noise emanating from the retail units below the hotel - there are currently fit out works being undertaken to convert the space into F&B outlets (not owned or managed by the hotel) and as such the disruption is out of the hotels hands. The work is only undertaken during the day and should not have impeded your evening experience. once again our apologies for the disruption, the works are almost complete and will be a great addition to the local area should you choose to stay with us again.
