Ok - but nothing special

Hotel is somewhat old fashioned. Comfortable enough and the staff were helpful. No wow factor...

Cosy country hotel

Publié le 10 déc. 2014
Les + : The quiet location and spacious grounds.
Les - : There is no elevator.
Situation : The Thames is nearby.
We were attending a birthday dinner and booked to stay overnight. The dinner was very good and the staff attentive. Our room was comfortable with tea, coffee making facilities. We slept well in the comfortable bed. Everything was clean. There was a cosy bar lounge with a real fire. Breakfast was cooked to order and there was good choice at the cold buffet.

In need of a make over

Publié le 8 déc. 2014
Les + : Nice friendly staff.
Les - : Hotel needs a complete makeover.
Situation : Good for visiting nearby Bray.
Booked into the deluxe room but the room bared no resemblance to the picture on the web site- room was small with stains on the carpet. We asked to be moved but was told there were no available rooms.

Not perfect

Publié le 21 nov. 2014 sur Hotels.com
Very nice room and had a very comfortable night. Breakfast however turned into a strange parallel experience with my colleague also staying there. The hotel toaster was set so low that after 5 trips through my warm bread resembled stale rather than toasted. The young man on duty could not improve the situation. Then I ordered porridge. I should have asked them to make it with milk, but I thought that was normal. So this inedible suspension arrived which could not be rescued despite honey and milk addition. I was in a hurry so left it. Everyone else in the restaurant had lovely food! Just unlucky I guess. Well until my colleague was charged £29.95 for two poached eggs and a small bowl of fruit!

Very pleasant stay.

Very nice hotel. My only negative comment was that the one night, my room had double occupancy, there was only one set of towels, whereas the other nights with single occupancy I had two sets. No answer from reception when we tried calling down. We managed and it didn't spoil our stay.

classic comfort.

Publié le 21 oct. 2014
Les + : The classic charm
Les - : Room service lack a little attention to detail, forgot to bring bread with soup, forgot butter with bread, forgot salt and pepper but food was good
Situation : Not enough time to explore
This is the perfect hotel for a weekend retreat. The room was superb, classic high ceilings true to Georgian style,. and very spacious. The only negative was that there was an 18th birthday party being held on the evening of our arrival, and this did cause some noise in the corridors during the evening. However I would definitely recommend this hotel and I enjoyed my stay. .

nice hotel but in need of reno

Publié le 13 oct. 2014 sur Hotels.com
The location of the hotel is great, it has a beautiful park in front and the staff is very friendly and helpfull. The hotel has got wifi and that works nice. The bed was good, maybe a bit hard, but I'm used to a very soft bed. It wasn't as hard as some other hotels, so it was okay. The bed was small though, probably only 1.40 or 1.50 wide and that's not the modern standard, and so was the room. And that's the problem with the whole hotel, it really needs to modernise and it needs a reno. The carpets are somewhat old, the bathroom had a broken toiletseat and the ventilating system made a lot of noise, the bathscreen has some rust on it. Also the music from the weddingparty that was below kept us awake until midnight, there is not a lot of acoustic insulation. The breakfast buffet was sufficient, although the food buffet servers were old and had loose handles, in line with the rest actually. All in all a nice hotel, we didn't have big issues and it wasn't expensive so for the one night that we stayed it was okay.
