Dear Nelly,Thank you for your review which has re-established a semblance of reality following a couple of poor reviews. In this regard I would like to explain that we are different from chain hotels. We have an individuality that most guests enjoy. Those guests that are used to chain hotels, who like conformity, uniforms, key cards, a/c and on-line check in, where everything is charged extra should continue to use them. Guests like Nelly who can absorb the vibe of an "independent hotel designed for individuals" who enjoy old fashioned hospitality, a warm welcome when handing over keys, where most "extras" are included in the price should stay here.

Très bon rapport qualité prix pour Londres. Personnel sympathique et à l écoute. Petit déjeuner très appréciable et appréciée. Chambre petite et à la décoration ancienne mais on le voit sur les photos. Bonne localisation.

Dear Sebastien,Thank you for your review.Extremely light sleepers should request rooms at the back or lower ground floor. Don't forget you are in the heart of London not in the suburbs where hostels and hotels are easily confused!

Séjour de 4 nuits agréable ; certes la décoration (moquette, lavabo, sdb...) est complètement surannée mais cela ne nous a pas empêchés de passer un bon séjour. Le plus : le petit déjeuner anglais inclus (et le moins : jusque 9h seulement y compris le week-end 😉)

L’accueil chaleureux du personnel à la réception fait une belle différence. Les installations ne sont pas récentes mais tout est très propre. Petit déjeuner inclus…un atout! Hôtel bien situé.

Hôtel très bien situé, proche de la gare de Paddington. L accueil est très agréable. Les chambres sont propres. Les chambres sont petites, la déco vieillissante, le petit déjeuner « cantine ».

Le personnel est très sympathique. L'hôtel commence à vieillir mais bien agréable d'avoir 2 chambres communicantes . Bien situé près de Paddington : transports et restaurants.

Dear Henry de,Thank you for your lovely review which praised our staff and location. Our hotel is quite old (circa 1860s) but we try to maintain it through our experienced maintenance team. That is the reason we ask guests to let us know if there are any issues during their stay rather than complain through reviews.

Hôtel d’époque mais très bien!
Très bon accueil. Hôtel typique londonien. Les chambres sont d’époque mais propre. Nous avons eu peur pour la literie au démarrage mais les nuits ont été très bonnes. Nous avons été surpris de certains commentaires concernant le petit déjeuner car il était, à notre avis, tout à fait convenable. Pour l’english breakfast; il y vaut bins, œuf, champignons, tomate et bacon ! De quoi partir le ventre plein!!! Hôtel très bien situé ; à 2 rues de la gare et du métro. Bref, nous y reviendrons si nous avons l’occasion de revenir sur Londres!

Dear Helene,We are happy that you enjoyed our offerings. Comments regarding our breakfast are subjective and therefore never going to be the same. We can accept that! We can also accept being "old" so its good that you mention it as our building is from around 1860s and we have been running this hotel since the swinging sixties. Don't book with us if you want a modern hotel with a/c and on-line check-in. We like to welcome our guests with old fashioned hospitality and offer fans if the weather gets too frisky. Mon pied-à-terre à Londres :)
Hotel typique Londonien idéalement situé à proximité des commodités, du metro et de la gare de Paddington. Chambre simple mais fonctionnelle et confortable. Personnel très serviable et accueillant. On se sent un peu comme à la maison avec canapé et fauteuils, piano et bibliothèque en guise de lobby. C'est toujours un plaisir d'y retourner.

Très agréable
L’hôtel est tout à fait convenable pour un séjour, nous avions pris cet hôtel par défaut au début , au vu des photos des chambres nous étions un peu sceptiques. Mais à l’arrivée nous avons été agréablement surprises. L’hôtel est très charmant et vraiment très propre. Nous avons eu aucun soucis avec le bruit, c’est très calme. Seul gros bémol : le petit dej inclus. Le petit déjeuner ne se fait pas dans l’hôtel, c’est un partenariat avec un café/restaurant dans une rue adjacente. En tant que françaises, nous avons détesté le petit déjeuner. Qualité très médiocre, ce qui est inclus : 1 jus d’orange et café ( les deux c’est limite de l’eau ) , un œuf au plat , des tartines toastées beurrées, une saucisse et des haricots blanc. Le tout était vraiment pas bon. Nous l’avons testé une fois mais pas deux ! L’hôtel devrait changer d’endroit pour le petit déjeuner. Sinon à part ça, le séjour était très agréable, ne vous fiez pas à l’apparence un peu rustique.

Dear Yasmine, Thank you for your maximum award even though you didn't enjoy the English breakfast that was on offer. For many years we served English breakfast on site and there were always those that loved our breakfast and those that preferred a continental style. These days we offer a hybrid model whereby English is served Saturdays ,Sundays and Mondays and the rest of the week Continental breakfast. Please note that there is no charge for either breakfast

Hôtel très bien situé, mériterait d’être rafraîchit mais la chambre apporte le confort nécessaire pour 4. Matelas qui a vécu mais vu le rapport qualité prix, j’y retournerai !

Dear Johan, London is an expensive city and room rates reflect that. However, it must be said that our rates are inclusive of most things that other hotels charge extra such as parking, premium WiFi, breakfast etc.

The staff is friendly and the location is great for getting around London. The only drawback was the room was considerably smaller than it looks on the website. If you’re traveling with someone, it’s a tight squeeze. However, it was clean and the location was perfect.

Das Hotel ist zwar etwas in die Tage gekommen, liegt aber super zu Paddington Fernbahnhof und Metro, Nähe Hyde Park. Frühstück ist in Ordnung, für jeden etwas dabei, etwas hellhörig und teilweise fehlt etwas Farbe bzw sollte renoviert werden. Es ist sauber gehalten und die Mitarbeiter sind sehr hilfsbereit

We had a wonderful time at this hotel. Completely attentive to all customers. Clean clean clean. Beds made daily, fresh towels daily, plenty of bathroom supplies. Just all around wonderful hotel on a convenient location. So close to tube and restaurants

The staff were very friendly and you could get a glass of wine in the lobby bar for 5£. The rooms were old and tiny with two.beds pressed tight together. The sheets and towels were old and thin but the beds were reasonably comfortable. Good location close to Hyde Park and Paddington station.

Older property with lots of charm. The front desk staff were so warm and inviting. Tge included breakfast was wonderful. Rooms are a little dated but I think it added to the charm. They were otherwise clean and roomy. Everything we needed was provided.

Staff were nice..the room was really small and jaded. It served its purpose and the beds and linen were fine. The water was hot which is always good. Definitely needed a makeover. Good location. Breakfast thrown in with the price.

The bathroom needs some consideration towards elderly people . I was unable to negotiate the bath due to a fixed shower door and no grab rails on the wall. My husband had difficulty with the shower and it did not run as a bath The staff were very friendly and the cleanliness was excellent. Breakfast good

Dear David,Thank you for bringing the lack of grab rails to our attention. We looked at it and a grab rail has been fitted. Sorry about that! Reviews are always useful if they are accompanied with text. No hotel is perfect and all hotels can get better by listening to their guests!

Most guests like the surrounding area but all guests need to have their wits about them in any capital city during their travels. Expect that professional pick pockets congregate in stations, fast food outlets and queues in general. Thank you for mentioning the "great staff".
