découvrez le Japon authentique et attentionné

Publié le 22 avr. 2014

Lovely traditional ryokan

Publié le 12 juin 2014
Les + : Staff, traditional historic feel.
Situation : Near Gion and within walking distance to numerous interesting sights. Subway close by.
Had a great time at Seikoro. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Room was quite nice, although not a very economical option with meals included. Food was very good, with even better presentation!

Legit Kyoto

Publié le 20 mai 2014
Les + : Staff - amazing! Can speak english, so attentive & very friendly - atmosphere was so cute, as you'd expect from Japan - the onsen was amazing
Les - : Japanese futon is a stiff sleep if you're not used to it, but that is most likely a western cultural adjustment I need to make.
Situation : Easy to get around, close to Temples & Shrines & great experience for those seeking Japanese culture. 2 stations away from Kyoto downtown
This place was great - loved it so much - very close to the train station - easy to get around, close to Temples & Shrines & great experience for those seeking Japanese culture.

A life experience

Publié le 27 avr. 2014
Les + : The experience and the service. The onsen was very nice too.
Les - : No much.
Situation : Easy walking distance to many of the shrines and temples. Pretty close to subway station.
We had a fantastic stay at this ryokan which was truly a complete experience. Everyone went out of their way to make us welcome and our maid was so sweet and awesome. We did the meal plan, which we loved (although you should be warned that dinner is a multi hour experience). The building is older and shows some of those signs, but this gives it its own character. The room comfort of 4 is probably more on me, I got tired of sitting on the floor with the traditional japanese setting - but the floor futons slept very comfortably. The onsen was very nice, especially after a day of walking, but there is no garden view as others we enjoyed had. Free wifi access was very useful.

Experience a Ryokan

Publié le 3 avr. 2014
Les + : Kindness of staff, onsen, exotic nature of a ryokan
Les - : Dinner
Situation : Within walking distance of Gion district (where Geisha frequent)
We wanted to stay in a traditional Japanese hotel while touring Japan, and were not disappointed! The staff were extremely kind and courteous, while the facilities were very clean. The hotel will provide dinner upon your request in your room. However, I must say it was nothing outstanding. The breakfast was good we had the following morning. The dinner itself was beautifully presented like a piece of art, and our room attendant was very sweet, even though she spoke little English. If you stay here, you must use the onsen (hot baths). It is the most relaxing thing I have experienced!

Les - : Had better meals everywhere else in Kyoto, and cleaner onsen experiences elsewhere.
Situation : Easy taxi ride from train station.
We requested a non-smoking room, but did not get one.

Great, centrally-located Japanese Ryokan in Kyoto

Publié le 25 févr. 2014
Les + : Amazing service, friendly, English-speaking staff, central location and spotless facilities.
Les - : Struggling to think of anything. We loved our time there.
Situation : The hotel is in the southern Higashiyama district which is perfect for temple-viewing. One stop from the nightlife in Gion & Ponto-Cho.
My fiancee and I stayed here for two nights and had an amazing time. The place is spotless, inviting and the staff are incredibly nice and attentive. When you arrive, you're greeted at the door with slippers and your bags are taken to your room. You're also introduced to your personal room attendant who serves meals, makes your bed at night and puts it away in the morning. It's a completely different level of service from anything we've ever experienced before (and we've stayed in some very nice places.) The Ryokan also has great 'Onsen' (Japanese baths) on site which are the perfect place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The place is located centrally, two minutes from the Kiyomizu Gojo station, which is one stop away from Gion Shijo where you can access Gion, Ponto-cho and Kawaramachi, some of Kyoto's coolest neighborhoods. Seikoro is also very close to Kiyomizu, probably the most famous of Kyoto's temples (it's a 15 minute walk away). We liked being one stop removed from the bustle of Gion -- it was easy to go there to look around and easy to leave when you wanted some peace and quiet so the best of both worlds. We opted for an in-room Japanese meal that was served to us in our room by our private attendant. It consisted of eight courses of assorted seafood, sashimi, tempura and a delicious dessert accompanied with sake and beer. Absolutely delicious, but be prepared to try some foods you wouldn't normally seek out. Overall, we had an incredible time.
