Hotel Abella ripped us off and gave us a dump

Publié le 21 avr. 2014
Les + : Location, but that was it. It is 5 minutes walking distance from Blue Mosque. A couple of the bell-boys were nice, the Manager however was a cheat
Les - : All the above, including their dishonesty; expect decent rooms for the price paid, and were given something fall short of any living standard
Situation : is 5 minutes walking distance from Blue Mosque.
We booked through Expedia for about $177/night and requested King bed and 2 single beds. It was mentioned that this included a free breakfast, and a "First floor apartment". Instead, we were given a basement apartment which was very shabbily maintained, has a musty odor with a bad smell, no ventilation. It had the beds we requested but really a dump. Furniture was horrible, and extremely old. Bathroom did not even have soap, and stunk. What made it worse was that the hotel then raised the price when we were checking in stating that their prices had increased, refused to give us breakfast because they claimed it was not part of the reservation. We demanded another room and were given instead a single room where 2 adults and 3 children had to squeeze into. That room was better but only a small room with barely any walking room

Les + : the staffs were friendly and accommodating, the security they provided didn't breached my personal privacy and the sumptuous breakfast.
Les - : i hope they can give us at least complimentary toiletries, luckily i always brought mine.
Situation : abella hotel is situated in the old part of istanbul, there are also pubs and clubs around the area.
i had a pleasant experience, after arriving to istanbul from ankara on a late afternoon, i was welcomed by the hotel attendants warmly and i had a good rest later that evening. they kept my room clean and left my personal belongings untouched. the view above the hotel is spectacular, perfect sight while eating your breakfast buffet. the hotel located conveniently within the old city and in a short distance from major tourist spots like hagia sophia, blue mosque, topkapi palace and other major and minor historic sites. it is also close to sultanahmet tramway station, if you are on a budget and would like to explore the city, you can always try the metro system. it is the best budget hotel that cost less and much to offer.

Close to blue mosque but...

Les + : Location and price
Les - : Give better directions from the metro stop close by.
Situation : Close to blue mosque. 10 minutes from metro stop
Good location once you find it. Get perfect directions from the metro stop because the hotel staff gives basic directions so it takes some time to find this hotel. Once your there the location is good close to the blue mosque and hippodome.

It's the location

Les + : The roof views, the breakfast, friendly, helpful staff (although some had very little English).
Les - : Combining two rooms into one, but that's not going to happen.
Situation : A very short walk to the hippodrome, the Blue Mosque, the Ayasofia, the Topkapi, and lots of restaurants and shopping,
This small hotel is perfectly situated to visit the best-known historic sites. And from our window we had a lovely view of the Blue Mosque. The highlight of the hotel is the roof breakfast room/restaurant - fabulous views in all four directions of the Mosque, the Sea of Marmara, and even the top halves of the obelisks on the hippodrome. The views are stunning! Breakfast was very good with lots of bread, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, white cheese, olive paste, hard cheese, and varying mixed vegetable dishes eggplant with tomatoes was delicious!). Nescafe seems to be a Turkish norm. We also had a dinner of iskender kabab, which we enjoyed. But the room: It was very small and a challenge for two large people with multiple suitcases to keep from stumbling over our stuff and each other. But I'd go back again.

Good two night experience

Publié le 31 oct. 2012
Les + : Position, Price, Staff
Les - : Thin partition wall
Situation : Sultanamet very close to the major tourist attractions
Excellently placed for the main sights and good value for money. The only downside was a neighbours TV on until 1am one night. We really enjoyed breakfast on the roof top with stunning views.
