AllenThank you for your review but I must dispute your clouded recollection of these events and I feel obligated to clear this up. First off, you only booked a 3 night stay online as that is all we had available for you as we were completely sold out. When you checked in you asked about booking other nights as you saw we were sold out online and you were informed that we had no rooms available for you at which point you left the front desk in an angry mood because you were going to have to check out the next morning. So to be clear, you didn't CHOOSE to leave because of the so called issues you mentioned but you had to leave because we didn't have room for you. So I am sure this added to your frustrations.Second, our cleaning team did a walk thru before you checked in and you let us know that they did miss the plunger on inspection, but there most certainly was not a smell at all in the bathroom, let alone a horrible smell like you mention otherwise the team would have made sure the smell was fixed before allowing you to check in. Once you brought the plunger to our attention we fixed the issue immediately and we apologized to you many times about that. I have sat with our team and gone over the room checklist once again to make sure details like this are not overlooked moving forward. Next, same thing goes for the towel, as it was not blood like you said but a stain from a previous guest that did not come out in the wash and also was over looked by the laundry team, and we again apologized and fixed the issue promptly. Also, the issue with the ac was never brought to our attention and after you checked out we noticed the ac was on fan mode in the slowest setting and not in ac mode on a cool temperature. So the ac unit is working well it just needed to be adjusted and that you could have done yourself.In closing, seems like from the moment you checked in and were given the bad news of not being able to book more nights you were already looking for any and all issues that could be overblown and then posted to our review page. This is very unfortunate because we went above and beyond to make our mistake right and the hospitality you received was top notch.Felt I owed it to my staff and all of our past and future guests to set the record straight about your bad attitude and highly inflammatory 1 star review you posted even after we fixed the issues we were made aware of.Bluebeards seems like it is a perfect fit for all your future stays. RichardThank you for the feedbackAs you can see from the new fence along the driveway we are slowly working on improving the entire facility as well as the guest experience, but as we are new owners, this transformation does not happen over night.We as owners live here on site and are available at all hours of the day to answer any questions or concerns you may have as a guest. Our check in desk is open from 8am-4pm with someone here to assist. After hours check-ins are automated as you were made aware in your welcome email.Being we only have 12 rooms, we do actually have enough space for everyone as we have a total of 16 parking spaces between our two lots, on both side of the property. But it does get tight when full.And when it comes to the view, we as well as most of our guests find the view quite amazing. But we can not control the other property owners in the neighborhood and how they choose to keep their space. No, it is not the beach view that you are probably wanting, but that kind of view also comes with a nightly rate 3x what our rates currently are, so there are most certainly trade offs...Hope as we make changes moving forward you will give us another chance on your next visit to the island.Warm Regards,Marshall Bishop

Thank you so much for the honest feedback.Reviews like this allow us to see where we need to make changes to ensure our guests receive the highest level of hospitality possible.The "Resort Fee" is quite common around the world and we only charge the one time fee per booking but that fee covers a multitude of things on the property. The hotel I just stayed at in Copenhagen charged a resort fee per night to give you an idea of how properties take care of that fee. Sometimes that fee for some properties off sets the fee that the booking sites charge for their service, some as high as 30% per booking. So sorry that was not well explained and I vow to make sure my staff is well aware of this info moving forward.For the early checkout, as long as the staff is informed of the departure time from the hotel we always make coffee and breakfast for the departing guests, it is just a matter of communication from guest to staff. Again, I do apologize and will make adjustments to the policy moving forward.Thank you for the kind words about dinner and we will most certainly pass along to our chef.

In regards to the breakfast I am sorry you feel the breakfast is not made to order. In actuality the person cooking breakfast every morning is myself, the chef and owner, so I can assure with 10000000% certainty that the breakfast is made to order. For the restaurant, at the moment we do not have a kitchen staff but we do offer a Wednesday night dinner for guests and the community. Thank you for choosing Island View Guesthouse while here in St Thomas and we are very saddened by such a low review for something that is out of our control.The hydro wire are not ours and property of the city government so unfortunately we do not have control of how the wires are placed and are not at liberty to move them so I apologize for them creating a bad view from your balcony. When it comes to the taxi service which is owned by the taxi association and government as well, we do not control their reliability or rates. Which I agree are not responsible or fair. When it comes to the phone service, we have an extremely reliable and fast phone service which is accessible via wifi anywhere on property and is used by all guests so there is no need for an actual landline phone. If that caused an inconvenience I do apologize as well.We do encourage all guests to rent vehicles as I also did for you as well while I gave you a ride to town for dinner so in the future it is best to have a rental ready for your stay as most places that are worth staying at on island are not accessible by foot and require a rental or taxi.Again, I apologize for any inconvenience you encountered and hope that on your next visit things are more up to your standards.Warm Regards,Marshall Bishop
