An absolute joke do not use!!!!!!!

After a long drive we was greeted by a very rude woman only to be told this was not a hotel anymore and hadent be for 6 years! Very mad about the whole thing...but website still insisted on taking my card details. Had to sleep in the car as was too late to book anything else as at a concert. This was my bday too and spoilt the whole weekend. We were not the only people turned away. Very dissapounted.. Will not use ur website again. Total joke

nightmare experience

We arrived to find the place occupied by others. Had 2hoirs before concert to find accom. No one could help us. Had to drive home through the night, exhausted

Kurzfristige Umbuchung

Wir wurden einen Tag vor Ankunft in ein minderwertigeres Bed and Breakfast umgebucht. Hotel war telefonisch nicht erreichbar. Begründung Handwerker sind nicht fertig geworden Haben uns im Hotel dann umgesehen Keine Handwerker bzw. Handwerkerarbeiten in Ausführung. Es waren Wahrscheinlich Gäste da die mehr für das Zimmer bezahlt haben. Dies wurde uns im umgebuchten B+B bestätigt.

Overnight stop was part of business trip. Overall very good value for money. Room was large and clean and buffet breakfast was more than adequate.

Unexpected

The hotel was very disappointing , not a warm welcome , front door locked . Our room was a good size but we had no hot water, no curtains just blinds and electric sockets were loose on walls.

Good Value for this B&B

I had to stay somewhere for 1 night and I didn't want to pay too much. This was fine for what I wanted. The staff is super nice. The room was really nice and spacious too. This is not a hotel though so you have to keep that in mind. The location is off but still pretty close to the city center. If you have a car it's great actually because the surrounding area is quiet. Good place if you're traveling as a couple actually.

Basic and pleasant

The hotel is good for those seeking just a place to stay a night. We arrived hungover from a wedding and needing a long sleep prior to the great yorkshire run so it was fine for us. The bed was very comfy. The room itself WAS NOT ENSUITE. This was very disappointing however as we left arrangements so last minute this is what you get!

Free upgrade bonus

Just stayed for one night with my son, as we were going to watch Sheffield Wednesday the following day. Arrived late at night and was pleased to find someone had waited up for us. Delighted to find that we'd been given a free upgrade to The Mandela Suite. Recommend and great value for money. Very friendly and helpful staff.

2 disappointing days

A very disappointing stay. Locks on bedroom doors did not work. Felt very insecure Water ran down overflow hole into floor instead of plughole on bathroom sink. Cheap breakfast, nothing cooked only boiled eggs. Worse of all no room cleaning service. good job it was only two nights and not a week!!!

Net hotel met uitzicht over de stad. Vriendelijk ,behulpzaam personeel die ons (4motormannen)keurig te woord stonden . Plaats voor motoren en advies voor avonddiner viel in goede aarde. Uitgebreid ontbijt .

surprise in Shirecliffe

We were delighted by the value for money of the overnight stay and could not have wished for a more welcoming and comfortable stay. The room (The Mandela Suite!) was large and very well furnished and looked out over the city. However, one or two of the room fittings were needing attention - light bulbs missing or needing replacing and the shower fitting was needing minor repair. Breakfast was generous and cheerfully served and we would happily stay there again now that we have found Diplomats' Lodge tucked away in Shirecliffe Lane.

Lovely Stay

We enjoyed our stay for one night. All staff we encountered were very helpful and welcoming. The room was very spacious and clean with comfy bed. The hotel was a short taxi ride into town centre and there was also free parking. Continental breakfast was included and was a lovely bonus. Nice breakfast room and good selection including cereals, yogurt, toast, ham and eggs. The hotel has an unusual layout and there are a few areas that are a little rough around the edges, but perfectly adequate and didn't detract from a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Overall good, spacious room, clean & nice bathroom

Overall good, only need to improve Bed mattress should be not too sloppy, it should bit firm, except that overall Room is nice and nice bathroom, good sunshine if any one wants. Rear side car parking is muddy & slippery, Receiption kindly asked me to park in front.

Don't expect a hotel, the name lodge gives it away

Please, as other people have wrote, it's not a hotel so don't book if you expect one. It is a lodge, but a very nice one at that. Situated at the top of a steep drive, approx 2 miles from where we wanted to be (casino) so location is good. I was contacted by phone the night before our arrival by the owner to ask our eta, nice touch.we were greeted by a nich bloke who informed us clearly about breakfast, rooms, keys etc. The room was massive with high Victorian ceilings, the bed was comfy, lovely powerful hot shower, clean everywhere, huge tv, tea coffee etc. we loved it. The ONLY problem we encountered was the toilet seat was very loose and ready to fall off. the sink taps were not tight, very loose, and the plug didn't rise high enough which meant it took ages for the water to disperse. These are minor things which I told the manager about the following morning. They certainly wouldn't put me off staying again, nor should they put anybody else staying. We didn't encounter no late night noise, but were woken by the manageress knocking on our door at 9.30am reminding us about breakfast. We weren't getting up at that time for a continental breakfast so woke an hour later and drove to morrissons for the full monty. The owners should say in the listing that its continental. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it all day, we will definitely return next time. Please remember, it's not a hotel, but a lodge!

Very helpful and great members of staff which are both welcoming and efficient. Really enjoyed my stay and if i ever have to go to Sheffield again i will definitively go there again.

PRO: Very friendly staff, large room, huge flat screen TV, free WiFi with very good reception, close to public transport (3 busses), very large and comfortable double bed - CONTRA: Windows could not be opened, toilet lid was broken, room could have been cleaner, no mirror in the room, very thin walls/ceilings, noisy in the morning as opposite breakfast room, situated in a slightly run-down residential area

Innenstadtnahes Hotel

Das Hotel liegt in gut erreichbarer Nähe vom Stadtzentrum, Bus und Taxi ist erschwinglich zu benutzen. Der äußere und innere Zustand sind völlig in Ordnung, auch Sauberkeit war okay. Der Service war klasse, z.B. haben wir ein Frühstück zum Mitnehmen bekommen, weil wir morgens noch vor der Frühstückszeit zu einem Ausflug weggefahren sind. Völlig unkompliziert und einfach nett! Wer mitten in der Stadt wohnen will, ist hier fehl am Platz, aber wenn man gern zu Fuß Städte selber erschließt, ist es ideal. Weil es ja die Stadt der Snooker Weltmeisterschaft ist: am Crucible ist man nach ca. 20-25 Minuten.

Not a bad place, but no mirror.

This is a budget hotel. Comfortable bed, clean room, continental breakfast. But no mirror in the ensuite, bedroom or shared toilet. Maddening.

requested a twin room. as 2 single men travelling. one had a double bed the other had to have a pullout bed. i would classs this as a family room for a couple to sleep in the double bed & a child on the pullout.

Convenient for local amenities

We chose the guest house for a Christmas shopping trip to Meadowhall, just a few minutes drive away. We were very impressed with the value for money. Comfortable, clean room with ensuite and good choice of breakfast on offer. Quiet off road parking, would recommend to a friend.
