“Villa TORLONIA : cadre agréable mais service minimal”
Quel dommage!
“Very happy!”
This hotel was very comfortable and very close to public transportation. They didnt have wi-fi which I found surprising for such a prestigious hotel.
“Fine if you can afford to stay in the basement!!”
Hotel has a nice garden, but make sure you avoid rooms in the basement!! and that you bring a power adapter with you!! Rooms are very clean and richly furnished. Location is better accessible by bus (number 94, 60, and a couple other) ... they all come from or pass by Termini .... the underground is a bit longer walk (about 7 minutes when you know the way)
“A Lovely Hotel - and Excellent Value”
I had to travel to Rome recently on rather short notice and so was in a bit of a nervy state about hotels, etc. I found this hotel through TripAdviser and then booked through Expedia. The hotel was beautiful. The rooms were lovely and very well-appointed. In addition, it is in a lovely quiet neighborhood that is quite near to the University "La Sapienza" and a couple of foreign Embassies (you're very well guarded!). By Rome standards, which can be very expensive, it was excellent value. The one thing that concerned me prior to arrival was that some other reviewers had noted that it was a bit out from the centre of Rome. It isn't in the centre of Rome but there is no need to worry at all. Its about 5 to 10 minutes walk to "Bologna" tube stop and there are buses that run from right around the corner to downtown in 20 to 30 minutes. It was very easy to get into the centre of Rome. In fact, I found it a real relief to get out of the centre at the end of the day and into a quieter part of town. There are lots of beautiful hotels in Rome, but I would not hesitate to recommend Principe Torlonia to travelers to Rome (in fact, I already have!). This is a beautiful hotel which, perhaps because it is out of the centre a bit, is really outstanding value. Enjoy your trip!
“Seven Nights”
The danger in writing a well-deserved, glowing review of the Prime Hotel Principe Torlonia is that too many people will discover it and it will not be available when we want to return! This hotel is a gem nestled among an up-scale neighborhood outside the Historic Center of Rome. While that may not appeal to some, the Bologna Metro B line is a few short blocks away and the distance from the tourist circuit gives the willing traveler a taste of daily Roman life. The restaurants in the area were all outstanding and the nearby supermarket made picking up picnic supplies easy. The staff were all warm and friendly and Ramona, in particular, went out of her way to arrange for tables at restaurants during the hit and miss Christmas holiday. We are particularly grateful for her assistance with our trip. If you want to be in the middle of the Historic Center of Rome near all the tourist spots and everything that goes along with them, this is not the place for you. If you are able to navigate yourself on the public transportation system (or have a rental car or pockets full of cab fare) and want a quiet place to start and end your day in Rome, give this hotel serious consideration. You will not be disappointed.
“Very lovely hotel in quiet residential neighborhood”
This hotel was very attractive with nice clean rooms and spacious showers (by european standards, at least). The breakfast was hot and tasty, served on an attractive enclosed patio. The only complaint I could make is the location - this hotel is about a 10 - 15 minute walk from the Bologna metro station north of most major sites. Although this means that you find yourself in a quiet and peaceful part of town, it can be a bit challenging to locate the hotel if you are arriving via public transportation. The hotel staff is extremely helpful in providing directions and assistance though, so the location should not cause excessive concern.
“Busy Honeymoon”
We originally booked a different hotel that was nicer and were switched to this one by the hotel company due to "over booking." We booked six months in advance so I would think our booking would be one of the first ones. But, expedia gave us a credit for our next trip. The hotel was decent and the room was what you'd expect, being small, although the walls were paper thin. We could here snoring all night long coming from the room next to us and trash pick up at 3am twice in the week was something nice to wake up to. There was breakfast served every morning, unfortunately, we could hear the people eating and dishes being washed from our room on the second floor. Breakfast was a buffet pastries, eggs, yogurt, juice, and coffees. Not bad. Location was right up the street from the Metro and close to pizzerias, restaurants, and even a bowling alley. We did find a grocery store hidden down a side street that would have been helpful to know earlier. Staff was very helpful in pointing out good places to eat, and providing information. They all spoke english we we asked and were very polite. If you want internet you need something that connects to wi-fi as they have no computer. They give you a password and login to access their network for around 5 euros per half hour.
“Prime Hotel Principe Torlonia, net buiten de drukte van het centrum van Rome”
Mooi hotel in oude villa net buiten de drukte van het centrum van Rome en op 5 minuten loopafstand van bushalte en 10 minuten van metrostation Bolonga. Nette, mooi ingerichte kamers. Alleen in november was de verwarming voor ons Hollanders wat te warm, dus de ramen moesten open... Vriendelijk personeel en prima ontbijt. Lekker rustige omgeving dus s'nachts goed geslapen. Een aanrader voor een paar dagen Rome.
