Hôtel très bien situé avec stationnements (payants) très proches. L’hôtel est absolument superbe et le personnel accueillant, souriant, sympathique et serviable. Un peu cher mais c’est du beau luxe et c’est en Islande! :)

It is a small hotel with more personal service. The fact that is centrally located is also a problem as it doesn't have parking. If you rent a car, it is difficult to park. This brings you stress and you don't fully enjoy your time there as you need to be moving the car.

Thank you for reviewing our hotel. We appreciate your feedback. Being so centrally located does some with advantages and disadvantages indeed. Parking can be challenging around the hotel however our front desk staff is always happy to give directions. We hope to see you again.

Amazing and clean place in walkable reykjavik. Beware, there is no parking, you will be paying $20USD a day to park in a nearby garage.

The staff go above and beyond to help. Breakfast was fantastic. I could eat the smoked salmon, mountain berries, and croissants everyday. We were also able to walk to all of the restaurants we ate at. Hotel is on a pedestrian street, but we did not rent a car, we took taxies where we wanted to go, as well as booked sightseeing day trips on busses. Do not miss the black beach.

Very helpful staff from check-in to getting bags in the hotel to room, asking for restaurant recommendations, printing a letter, etc. They were great! Room clean, comfortable. Loved the rain showerhead. Junior suite was roomy enough for our needs. Breakfast offered a great selection of fresh, healthy and tasty options plus great coffee and friendly service. Convenient location. Would stay here again.

All staff members were extremely friendly. Beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. If you’re looking for a place close to many attractions, this is the one! I’d for sure book a stay here again.

We had a great stay at Sand Hotel. It is very conveniently located with lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. The rooms were super comfortable and quiet. The only downside was parking, which was a bit more difficult to find and then required walking with luggage for quarter of a mile.

I wish I stayed at the other hotel...disappointing
My last impression of this hotel will be "disappointment" - just lots of little things that added up to a disappointing stay. The hotel comes so close to getting it right but so often fell short that the experience (for the not insubstantial price) was underwhelming to the point of regret - like I wished I stayed at my other hotel choice. We stayed in January so the weather was very cold. In my room, two of the three openable windows were broken and could not be closed so my room was always sub zero in temperature. Beware the "happy hour" in the bar where we had a drink the first night - the discount is minimal and the drinks over priced to start with. having to pay for a flat white coffee at breakfast is a joke (however filter coffee is free). The hotel is also really noisy with little insulation between rooms and floors. Wake up calls that are forgotten. Housekeeping aren't exactly quiet - when cleaning the neighbouring rooms I thought they were doing major renovations. Unsubtle and poor attention to little details that add up to a disappointing stay. Front desk staff I also found to be more happy with an argument about how you are wrong, rather than sorting out the issue that you're upset about. It's close to a lovely bakery, but other than that I wish I had stayed at that other hotel...

The concierge staff was excellent. They were very welcoming and assisted me with my tour and transportation reservations. The breakfast had something for everyone and the staff was immediately on top of every detail. I would suggest that the hotel offer early arrivers an early check in at no additional cost. It would improve the customer service.

You are right in the center of town here, and the staff was so sweet and helpful. We missed the free breakfast, but it looked delicious! Beds were super comfortable and the room was clean. Super walkable and a lot around. Nothing bad to say here!

Great Location
Great location, easy walking distance to many areas of Reykjavik. Very good breakfast and a really nice cafe right next door. Clean rooms, albeit a tad small, typically euro. A bit of street noise on the weekends.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful during our stay. The breakfast buffet offered a large variety of foods and everything was fresh. The hotel's location was ideal for walking around Reykjavik. It is close to everything. The rooms we had were small but had lovely amenities. We would recommend the Sand Hotel and we would stay here again.

Hotel details
This hotel is classified as 4 stars, but consider the size of the room, it should not be one. Staff are excellent and helpful. Shower is great. Breakfast could run 30 min longer to 10:30. Hotel is on a “No cat sone”, watch out when you arrange your pick up service. Hotel location is excellent, good for shopping, sightseeing and dinning.
