I have chosen this hotel base on Forbes travel guide. It described it has a eco-chic historic hotel and luxury hotel. However it seems that things have changed since this article was published… The staff is friendly but it is not the kind of welcome/presentation that you would expect from a “luxury” hotel. For example, the “valet” welcomes you in t-shirt, sport shorts and adidas sneakers… no name tag and not knowing what is the maximum height of its parking! The staff at the front desk (mostly teenager) also dress 'causual and lean on desk and wall. The overall impression of our arrival is a clear lack of etiquette for a “luxury” hotel.Also, the lobby looks more like a grocery store than a hotel. The room itself was clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom is however tiny, you cannot be 2 persons in it and even alone, you need to squeeze yourself to reach the sink. The restaurant is closed and there is no bar … so there is absolutely no atmosphere or ambiance there. The neighborhood is ok for what Portland seems to have become … huge number of homeless people and drug addict injecting themselves in front of everybody!

Attention attention: pas de restaurant! Ça reste un magnifique hôtel, mais ayant séjourné là à de nombreuses reprises depuis 2008, ce n'est plus ce que c'était sans restaurant; il faut marcher tous les matins pour aller déjeuner.

It was very comfortable and beautiful. It was not quiet though, noise from maintenance room next door was very loud. Was supposed to get a bottle of wine with our booking but nobody knew anything about that. Other than that we enjoyed it.

The hotel is very cute and in a very convenient location. The staff were excellent. The room was well appointed but small, especially the bathroom. My only complaint is that the doors to the rooms slam when closing. This was especially evident starting at 5 o’clock in the morning. I was unable to sleep in due to this. Only because of this, I would not stay again. This is unfortunate because I did enjoy everything else about the hotel.

The decor was great, rooms are nice, and the bed was comfy. The room was too warm (the thermostat was set to 64 but stayed at a constant 74) and there was half a tablet of some kind of drug left on the nightstand from previous guest.

The room here was very nice and clean and we liked being able to sit in the beautiful library section of the lobby while doing some computer work during our stay. The parking garage was also conveniently located and there were lots of options for cute coffee shops nearby.

I stayed here because I had a concert at the Arlene Schnitzer Hall, it was overall a very good stay. My one comment is have your bar area open so that after concerts guests can "wind" down there evening by having a cocktail in your bar.

This was an amazing hotel with lovely staff. The Tavern attached to the hotel was fantastic. While we felt comfortable walking to the art museum nearby, our attempts to venture a few blocks away became sketchy really quickly. While there are great spots within walkable distances nearby, I would rate the walkability of this area pretty low, since I was traveling with younger children. But, the hotel itself is absolutely lovely and we’ll stay here every time we’re in Portland!

The in-room coffee is awful--both the complimentary and the mini bar offerings. In the library they serve good Stumptown coffee from 6-9, but if you are a get up and want a cup of coffee in my room kind of person like me, bring your own and use the French press that they provide in the room. The location is fantastic, and the atmosphere (decor, cleanliness, staff) is great too.

The room didn’t look like the picture online at all. It was so small when you were using the bathroom, the door hit your leg and the piano bar music that they advertised that didn’t happen so it was kind of a letdown.

Unfortunately, as with all cities, there were a lot of homeless people near the hotel although the hotel is in a very nice part of Portland.

Great location downtown. Completely safe. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only complaint was bathroom floor had something sticky on it that got on my shoe- it came off woth a bit of scrubbing.
