I would never recommend this place to anyone, the staff is the worst people I have ever dealt with. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. Thank goodness for Expedia, they had to call them twice to straighten everything out, which did not need straightening out but the staff does not know how to do their job and will call you and call when it is not needed. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

I apologize that your stay was troubled with the numerous phone calls you mentioned. It appears as though there was an easily resolved reservation issue that developed into something unnecessarily complicated. Wherever you book next time I hope you will continue to reserve through Expedia. I read from your comments that you were happy and confident with their service.

Quaint is nicely descriptive of the accommodations of our Original Tides Hotel. Guests who wish a more modern hotel experience with many extra amenities should ask about our newer Premium rooms, which all have ocean-front views of course.

The original Tides Hotel dates from the late 1940’s and that part of the inn retains very much the rustic atmosphere, experience and feel of a seaside motor hotel of that era. Guests will be pleased and reassured to know that the rooms were completely updated in 2021-22.

The room was great. Loved the view of the ocean and cute decor. Tile work was shoddy but good effort. The lady at the front desk was exceptional but the man was absolutely toxic. He yelled and treated the staff poorly. His behavior tainted a great stay for sure.

The check-in experience was terrible and caused a lot of unnecessary stress. When I arrived, there was no one at the front desk. A small sign said that the lobby was closed but offered a number to call. When I called the number, it had not been set up for voice mail. I called it multiple times. I also called the hotel’s main number, and I could hear the phone ringing in the main lobby with no one answering it. I left several voice mails at that number. At that point I was afraid I wasn’t going to be able to access my room so I started looking on my phone for nearby hotels but could not find any with openings. I sent a message through the web form for communicating with the hotel. I sent an email. I called both numbers several more times. Eventually a man came back to the front desk. When I said the number the hotel provided had not been set up for voice mail, he basically responded with a grunt. He was quite rude through the whole check-in. I was able to check in, but he gave me incomplete/unhelpful directions to my room that resulted in me having to search around the property for an unnecessary length of time. I get that this guy was having a bad day, but the experience caused a lot of anxiety.

I expect your arrival was after the front desk had closed for the night, which in our case is at 10pm. Late in the evening, we had not heard from you and were not able to reach you by telephone to coordinate a “key-drop” for after-hours arrivals such as yours. I regret the poor experience and wish better information could have avoided almost all of the unpleasantness.

We’ve stayed here before and really enjoyed it. the room we got this time was well below average in our opinion. No window to open to improve air quality was a major problem for us!

I hope you will return and please allow us to work with you in order to offer you the room-type you have enjoyed in previous visits. There are both older and newer sides to the Tides Inn and many room variations.

We stayed here years ago when it was quite dated, and now it’s been recently renovated. Great updates, our room was modern and very clean. Wonderful oceanfront room with a very comfortable bed. There is a sign at the front desk saying the property is still undergoing renovations but we didn’t see any signs of construction. Maybe check that you’re staying in a renovated room. Great hotel, great location that’s easily walkable into the main drag of town and ferry terminal. We plan to stay there next time we visit.

I see that you have shown a scored review of 3 out of 5 and I believe we could do better for you.Please ask about our larger and more modern Premium rooms. You may wish to consider that option on a future stay.

The only thing is the bathrooms are a bit small but other than that no complaints at all with cleanliness or kindness. Very pretty view and comfy beds

Although the Original Tides Hotel side of our property was, in 2022, completely renovated (as were the newer Premium Suites) the original architecture of it's era remained a compromise. Yes, the renovated bathrooms look great - but still small.

The front desk guy, almost acted like we were bothering him. Yes, the room had been updated, but it was not exactly what I expected from the photos of what they had on their website I would say I was disappointed. Someone needs to tell them to mop under the bed because there is a lot of dog hair under there.

The hot tub jets didn’t work and there wasn’t enough hot water to even fill the tub enough to get in it. The front desk guy was very rude during check in processes. There was no continental breakfast like was stated online. Fireplace was super wimpy and did not heat the room at all. Not even enough flame for ambiance. Paid a lot of money for things not to work.

We were able to check in early. Room was clean, bed was super comfortable. Staff was nice. Balcony needs new paint, doors and windows need an upgrade as seals were old and windows were moist on the inside. We were in walking distance to downtown and restaurants. We had a nice 1-night stay. Beautiful, well maintained, and clean with a nice view of the water. We had a balcony overlooking the water and a large jacuzzi tub. Excellent all around! We will stay there whenever we visit Port Townsend.

I have asked maintenance to to inspect and repair any problems with the bathroom fixtures within the room in which you stayed. The bathroom doors within the guest rooms do not have a lock.

Liked that we were right at the water's edge and the inside of room was somewhat updated. Didn't like limited front desk service and that sliding door and deck were needing updating. Also, would have liked a continental breakfast offering.

You may have missed it as the color is black on black, but there are phone chargers and electrical outlets in the nightstands by the bed.

I wish there were more restaurants in Port Townsend that featured a waterfront setting, but this can be forgiven as the dining experiences here are quite exceptionally good.Of course, your ocean view Tides Inn room will be right on the water’s edge.
