Dear ElaineThank you so much for taking the time to share your opinion of Dunalastair Hotel following your visit recently.It is indeed fair to say that our checkin time is 4.00pm and if our guests arrive earlier from mid-afternoon, we would always allow access to the rooms, if they are available. However, you arrived at 11.00am, whilst our guests were still checking out, so my colleagues were quite right to advise that access was not available in the morning. It is a shame to learn that you chose to sleep in your car, especially after relaxing in our lounge beforehand. You would of course have been welcome to stay until your room was ready. You are quite correct that we take reservations for breakfast on busy mornings such as Sunday as we had a full house the night before. You would not have been asked to make a breakfast reservation for Monday, as that was a quieter morning. In terms of the breakfast availability I am a little confused as the buffet is replenished as items begin to reduce so why you opted for toast only, is a great shame and a little confusing. In ending, thank you once again for sharing your experience as this in turn, has allowed me to provide a fair and concise response from the hotel. In the meantime, we trust the remainder of your vacation is enjoyable. Best wishes.

The hotel dates back to 1871 so when redesigning the hotel, we had the most beautiful building to work with and design our bedrooms around the unique layout and design of the property. In terms of paying for breakfast, I see you actually booked through Expedia on a room only basis, so breakfast would have been chargeable whether continental or cooked was chosen. Please speak to Expedia directly as there was obviously a little confusion from that end on what package you had chosen. We note your review and would like to make the following observations. We do appreciate constructive feedback, positive or otherwise and where we get it wrong will accept and apologise. We will always strive to learn from lapses within our operation that do unfortunately happen on rare occasions. However, we refuse to accept blackmail in whatever form it takes.You indicated to our duty manager during your stay that trash was left in your bathroom bin but you were unwilling to allow us to come and remove it. Our housekeeping team are highly trained and it would have been extremely unusual for this to happen however we note it is humanly possible albeit our rooms are double checked by two supervisors and apologised to you. You requested that you and your partner will like two free double measures of Belvedere Vodka for the inconvenience to which the duty manager obliged by way of a gesture.You returned the following day to inform the duty manager that your suite door was not closed properly after the cleaners have been to service your suite. The duty manager explained that we have automatic door closers in each of our doors and this is highly unusual. We offered to review CCTV but you insisted that it would not be necessary however you will like another two double measures of Belvedere Vodka complimentary for the inconvenience. Sadly, we had to decline your request this time on the basis that we do not feel such a request is justifiable and CCTV did support our decision. You threatened to place a negative review on Expedia if we do not oblige.We have not received any emails from you at our London Group Head Office as we have a policy of responding to all emails within 24hrs.It is a shame and most inaccurate that such a blackmailing and misleading review is allowed to exist on this platform without much by way of checks and certification. That said, we are confident Expedia readers will come to their own individual conclusions.Kind regards,Fiona
