“Proche de tout et calme.”
Hôtel idéalement situé pour découvrir le vieux Madrid à pied (musées et animations). Calme et accueil sympathique. Nous conseillons cet endroit.
“Honeymoon”
Madrid was the first stop on our european honeymoon coming from australia. Hotel was is in a awesome location close to all main attractions and restaurants. We had the junior suite which was a really nice room and buffet breakfast was great. Only downfall was on the time of our visit they were doing some construction work on top of our room but that was just chance. Overall was a great hotel and great stay.
“Everything you need”
We were absolutely delighted with the hotel. It was very clean and comfortable, the staff were helpful and courteous and the breakfasts were excellent. The best thing though is the location, just five minutes' walk from the main museums - a little further to the Reina Sofia - five minutes the other way to the Puerta del Sol and all around a fantastic selection of tapas bars and restaurants. Next time we're in Madrid we will definitely go back to this hotel and we would certainly recommend it to any visitor.
“Perfect location, highly recommended”
Wasn't disappointed after reading the previous reviews. The hotel is of high standard - furnishings, comfort, cleanliness, service and perfect location. It';s within easy walking of all the major tourist attractions, yet in a quiet enough location not to be disturbed. We arrived before the earliest check in time due to an early flight, but a room was quickly made available. Reception staff were helpful and courteous at all times, and spoke excellent English. The room was large compared to some city centre hotels and the there were no concerns with any aspect. Didn't try the wi-fi, but there are 2 public PCs that were usually available. A security man was present in reception during the night, but at no time did we feel uncomfortable or see any signs of trouble in the neighbourhood of the hotel, or anywhere else for that matter. There are loads of excellent bars and restaurants close to hotel. The hotel buffet breakfast is OK if you need a large meal at the start of the day, but there are plenty of better places on the doorstep if a coffee and pastry are more to your taste. We used the Metro to get around the city and return to the airport. Again it was very safe and efficient, and very cheap. The nearest stations are Anton Martin (300metres) or Sol (500 meters). It takes 2 changes of line to get to the airport, but the transfers are easy, even with luggage. I'd definitely consider staying at the Hotel El Prado again next time I visit Madrid.
“Great location to see old Madrid!”
Hotel is located blocks away from the Prado Museum and in walking distance to numerous plazas. There are many restaurants, bars, cervecerias and convenience stores nearby. It was easy to walk to Madrid bus stops, the Anton Martin Metro station, and the Madrid Vision Tour bus stop. Many people walk in the area and feels extremely safe at night right up to 3am in the morning. There are a lot of tourists and hostels around. Room service is prompt at 10am so if you sleep in, you'll miss room service. You'll just have to ask for clean towels at the front desk and they'll send it up promptly. On the night before we left, we were informed that the Metro subway workers were on strike and that we might be delayed traveling to the airport. The front desk clerk waved down a taxi for us to get us to the airport. There are fees to use the phones and to call so avoid using the phones if possible.
“Perfect Location”
As its name suggests, the El Prado is located close to the Prado Museum and even closer to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. In the other direction, a modest walk takes you to the Plaza de la Puerta del Sol and, a bit further on, to the Plaza Mayor. Breakfast is not included and the cost seemed to us to be high. We chose instead to take breakfast at one or another of the several cafes within a few steps of the door of the hotel.
“I recommend”
This hotel was an easy metro ride from the airport as long as you ask for directions. The staff was professional and the service was great. Ask for room 605 because it offers a patio looking over a local street. This street was not loud nor busy at night so noise was not an issue however - you got to witness the locals through their lives on the balcony. Everything tourist was local and even when we walked into the local sections - it was convenient. We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and traveled the South of Spain - then we returned to this hotel again. I called to say that we would be arriving late and they remembered me and my husband and said that we were not to worry and that they had saved a special room. This time we stayed in room 702 which was lovely and the patio was bigger but did not offer the local view. Either room though - you can not go wrong.
“"Small & Friendly in Madrid"”
This brief holiday was perfect in every aspect, especially the warm weather which was in great contrast to our "Springtime".
“Very good hotel for the price. Excellent location.”

“Don't get the interior rooms!”
Hotel el Prado is conveniently located and seems to be a good option. My stay was for one night only, and I tried to save money by booking one of the interior rooms. This was a mistake mainly because there are no windows to the outside, and so it was hard to clear the room of the overpowering lemony cleaning fluid odor. Other than the room being exceedingly small, it was comfortable enough for my overnight stay. If you choose Hotel el Prado, spend the extra money and get a room that has windows to the outside!
