Belle adresse
Bien situé par rapport au centre-ville (possible de s’y promener à pied), cet hôtel est une très belle bâtisse. Les chambres sont confortables et accueillantes. A chaque étage, un long balcon est accessible pour profiter de la vue ou boire un thé. Durant notre séjour, ils ne servaient pas de petit déjeuner mais le staff, très agréable et efficace, nous a indiqué plusieurs adresses.

The historical building was formerly a convent. We appreciated the modern bathroom. We did not appreciate the ants that traveled across the floor and walls. The staff was very helpful. We enjoyed the cafe a block down the street for breakfast and lunch. We enjoyed the view from the balcony at sunset. We enjoyed watching the movie “The light between two oceans” set in Stanley, our next Tasmania destination.

A quiet location
We were upgraded to a king suite which was very spacious. After a 27-hour journey from London this was much appreciated. The location is quiet and offers ample parking. Breakfast is not provided but Cuccina Café is only a few minutes walk and offers a great menu. Dynasty Chinese restaurant is also a short walk and has a wide choice.

Do not book a stay here if you arrive on the Spirit the same day, reception expected us to cover 100 km in 1 hr by 8.30pm- we disembarked at 7.46pm! We got lost and reception went home rating us as a no show even though we were in contact. We lost our room charge for the night! He could have left the key somewhere.

We had problems with our wifi . The shower could not be regulated so water was either too hot or too cold.

This boutique hotel has a great location in Launceston. We found the staff to be really helpful, and the room was comfortable with everything you need. There was off-street parking as well which was convenient and welcome. I would recommend it to others and stay again.

A little piece of heaven on the edge of the city. A gracious old building with spacious rooms. I had the executive room, which for one person was a palace. Comfy king bed, a bath, two television and a lounge dining room overlooking the city. And James was just delightful… pointed me to a great dinner venue and a really nice cafe for breakfast.. all within an easy walk. For me the perfect end to a busy week.

Hi Janet,We did upgrade your room at no extra cost, so we are sorry that it missed the mark on this occasion. Yes, the building is a heritage convent, but the rooms and bathrooms are modern, including the reverse cycle air pumps in all rooms, which are are only a few years old. On the lowest fan setting they are virtually silent, but on full setting they make some noise just like any other heat pump on full fan setting.

The property was lovely. Clean, quiet and the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. The hotel was within walking distance from the town. The staff were friendly, helpful and I would definitely stay there again. It is clear the staff have great pride in the property and the work they do there.

The Auldington is a lovely building in nice grounds. My room was clean, with lovely high ceilings and a comfortable (firm) bed. The bath was sensational! Original glass in the windows & lovely views. There were a few things which diminished the quality of my stay, reducing my review to 3 stars. The staff member who checked us in was extremely thorough – racing through everything anyone may ever need to know about staying. Unfortunately, the sheer volume of information he served up made it difficult to take any of it in. He then proceeded to lead us to our room, where he showed me how to open a door (turn the key & push) and then actually entered the room. I found this awkward & a little uncomfortable. There definitely needs to be improvements with some insulating / soundproofing. I could hear people walking on the floor above my room every morning and hear voices, music & spa noise from the rooms around mine in the evenings. The biggest issue I had was with the air-conditioning. It seems as though the building has some kind of multi-head split system in operation, which means that every outflow has to be on the same mode for it to work. I had no air-con & was sweating for 5h on my last night. The view was nice from the front. Location wasn’t bad, but a little out of the way. It is quiet, which is good. There’s a lovely corner café close, which was a bonus for morning coffee. Would I stay again? Not in summer, not in winter (when heating or cooling is required).
