Basic student accomodation and just overnight.

A brief stay to go to a 30th birthday. It was closest accomodation with parking and uni. Student were on holidays. Beds were good, fan in ceiling with light was ideal. However, very limited size, vanity basin was doggy and appeared to have had some repairs, but needed more to stabilise it. Check in was at a desk as renovations were happening in the office. Finding the room took a bit as numbering was not simple and logical.

Super Disappointed

I was very disappointed in my hotel stay. The room was very basic and did not have a TV or air conditioning. It was very hot. The window did not have a screen and I woke up one night with a grasshopper in my bed. The housekeeping was nonexistent and never came to my room during my stay. People came in at all hours of the night and would constantly wake me up. Skip this hotel!!

True Uni experience

Room at Shalom College was dirty, bed side table had sticky drink rings. Second bed side table was broken and unstable. Staff were helpful when they were there. Unable to check out of room properly as no staff were available to speak to. Bathroom was dirty. Toilets had markings all over and didn't look like they had been cleaned for a while. No air con in rooms. Coming back from concert late at night and keys to the college and room didn't work, still didnt work the following day. Upside: Close to bus and UNSW grounds in general were lovely to walk around.

Different experience

As the other comments stated, this is a college dorm renting its rooms over the break. There were some students around, no free wifi, bathroom is down the hall, had to carry bags upstairs, no air conditioning or fan, hard to get service late at night. That was not a problem for me, I was happy to get a room at the last minute close to the airport at a cheap price.

Close (on) to campus

Place undergoing renovation. Student rooms as expected except the room was dirty (hair on sink)/ food or blood on heater and general sticky something on cupboard. Towels, sheets and blanket seemed very clean. There is NOWHERE to prepare food or cook as you would expect in student halls: the common room was filthy (but then cleaned on monday). When I asked for a mug to make coffee the staff said there were none and offered me 2 plates and told me the rest had been stolen. The hot water tap on floor 2 was broken. There was nothing to cook with or on and no kettle. No glasses or mugs provided at all!

It's cheap but you get what you pay for... If you're on a tight budget it's not a bad place. Conveniently close to public transport and everything, just wasn't the most comfortable stay.

Don't waste your money

Appears to be run a bunch uni students for free rent...they had no clue. If you stay you can enjoy your time with noisy students who have no regard for anyone but themselves...the doors did not stop banging and and bouncing pool ball was just awesome at 1am.

Ok Stay

The staff were wonderful upon check in and carried my 8 year old's bag up to our room for us. The room was new and had an ensuite and we were comfortable. The shared kitchenette was conveniently located with hot and chilled water; we didn't use the small fridge as it was over crowded for the number of guests. The west facing room was quite warm in the afternoon with just a ceiling fan for cooling, I would ask for a room on the eastern side on our next stay if possible.

Sydney's Hidden Gem!

A very pleasant stay. Staff very pleasant overall (no nasty surprises!). Shared bathrooms good except for untidy guests who seemed to ignore "keep tidy"notices posted there. Microwave and electric jug for guest use was very useful. However, the guests left these items in a disgusting mess! The fridge was also crammed to the point where the door would not properly close. Why would anyone put their food into a fridge where it would spoil? Especially that of other guests! This is NOT the fault of the management; the blame rests fairly and squarely on the guests who are too lazy to follow simple instructions and clean up after themselves. This establishment is one of the best value for money places in which I have ever stayed. It really is a hidden gem.

basic but cheap

Basic place to stay, cheap and does the job. Paying extra for wifi is joke. Especially when online it suggests you get a weeks worth for $15 when in fact you only get 3g for $15 which goes no where when your travelling. Bathroom is OK. Towels and room never got cleaned during the 5 days we were there. Had to ask house keepers for clean towels. Kitchen facilities and game and TV room upstairs are a good idea

UNSW Shalom Residential College

Good idea to use college for budget accommodation, great location. However room was stuffy, no fan and no screen on window. When window was opened during the night, mosquitos came in big numbers.

A great cheap option.

This is university student accommodation, that is available for travellers to rent. The rooms are clean and are completely adequate. We were fortunate to have a double bed with ensuite bathroom, but there are also twin rooms and shared bathrooms for even cheaper rates. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

Its a dorm, duh.

The staff was nice but you get what you pay for. This is a dorm and things are worn down however, sheets were clean and the bed comfortable. If you want to go to the beach from this location it may take some time walking there so I recommend taking the bus.

It's nice and cheap stay

位置稍微偏一些，但是毗邻高校园区，环境很安静宜人，价格也很实惠，交通方面虽然没有地铁，但是公交车很方便，有很多条路线的bus可以达到，去机场可以搭乘400路，any way, I would like to recommend this hotel to my friends!

Hostel

If you expect a private hostel room you're fine. I understand the hotel is new so everyone is learning. Noone answered the buzzer or phone for 10 mins when I tried to check in so was left outside and asked 3 times to move rooms from the damp smell.

This accommodation was close to the places we needed to go to ( Newtown , Eastgardens and Centennial Park) It is close to restaurants and buses and is good value for money.

Worse than a $30 pub.

No response to phone calls the week before. We arrived at 9:50 pm. The place was locked and there was no response to the intercom. When we found staff they could not give us keys to our room. Lifts did not work. The room was filthy (big white powdery spot on the carpet. The curtains were torn. Bathroom was dirty. No tea making facilities, no soap, no aircon.
