Bel hôtel qui se fait vieux. Apparemment que nous avons eu un bon prix via Expedia, alors on nous a donné une chambre dans le Lagoon qui est un bâtiment isolé de celui principal. Tout s'est bien passé, mais tout le monde peu entrer dans ce bâtiment à ciel ouvert sans surveillance. À certains hôtels, nous n'avions pas vu de cafards, mais dès notre entré, nous en avons trouvé au Royal Kona à l'endroit du fridgedaire malgré que la chambre était propre. Demandez une chambre loin des ascenseurs, car nous entendons le bruit de la chambre. Les tapis de la chambre sont vieux comme celui du balcon et de l'espace commun. La piscine était apprécié par nos enfants, mais trop petite pour le resort et n'importe qui semble pouvoir s'y installer contrairement au Marriot dont un bracelet est requis. De olus, nous ne voyons pas vraiment le fond. Nous avons assisté au spectacle de la piscine et de la chambre. C'était super. Le drink offert à notre arrivé est vraiment une belle attention, malgré que nous ne l'avons pas aimé. Mai Tai. Le resort est beau et la vue incroyable. Le parking est difficile. Il est possible de stationner sur la rue sans payer le 25$ et être plus près pour les valises. Le personnel a été très gentil avec nous mise à part le serveur qui voulait nous faire payer le verre d'eau chaude. Finalement, il a fait couler le robinet d'eau chaude pour nous l'offrir...

Bon séjour
Très bon séjour. Aspect un peu vieillot mais chambre très spacieuse, confortable et propre. Toute petite salle de sport avec un vélo et un tapis de course. Attention aux frais de parking supplémentaires !

The room has a terrible mildew smell. We are both congested after 15 minutes in the room! Their is nothing royal about this place. They seem to be catering more for spring break teenagers. Service is limited or absent. Pool area as no service and is way to small for the number of guest. They give you a coupon for a free mai tai, but no way of getting it since they seem to have only one bartender for hundreds of guests!

The Royal Kona is oceanfront and due to the tropical location and weather, the rooms can get humid at times, but this is easily remedied by opening your balcony doors. The rooms also have a full a/c unit as well. The resort is welcoming to all guests, of all ages, and does not cater to any one group. We do hope that you had a wonderful time on the Big Island otherwise and do hope that you will consider us in the future. We would be happy to ensure that you are happier with your stay.

Voyage de noces sur les îles d.Hawaï, nous avons visité Big Island. L hôtel est très vieillot et le rapport qualité / prix n.est pour moi pas du tout au rdv car tarifs très élevés (plus cher qu.a Waikiki!). Pas de double vitrage, prévoir des boules quies… par contre, très bon emplacement en bord de mer et superbe spot pour les couchers de soleil.

Let’s start off with check in…it’s easy. Your reservation is held for you and upgrades are offered when available for purchase. A great offer. You are at an older hotel…get over it. It’s beautiful and is walkable to downtown Kailua. ABC is across the street. You will have one of three towers. The lagoon, Alii and the Bay. The pool is amazing and the view is what you are paying for, totally awesome. Parking: easy. Your room key gets you in and out. It’s self parking. Your room will have a balcony and a table and chairs. If you are an early riser you need to hit breakfast early to save time and not be in line. 6:45 latest. Happy hour is at 4. If there is entertainment that evening I recommend getting a table at 3:45-4 If you are lucky to be waited on by Amy she’s amazing and by far your largest resource is a guy named Forest. He has the scoop on the entire property and is kind.

For the price I’d recommend to people who are not big on luxury. What I didn’t like: the resort is in desperate need of a renovation. The elevators are old & dirty with cobwebs on the outside (I know that’s a cleaning thing). Signage & paint falling apart in the corridors. The bathrooms are small, sinks & cabinets old, furniture old, tub shower, beds are hard and the bedding not comfortable. Rails have rust with paint cover. I’m pretty sure the room restroom smelled like urine. Tried to get cleaning everyday but clearly weren’t mopping. I left a pile of “test” on the floor. Was there everyday. I just cleaned the floor with scope. What I liked…The breakfast we had at the hotel restaurant (Don Mai Tai’s) was plentiful & had good taste. We had the sunrise breakfast and loco moco w/ fried rice & delicious French toast. Appreciated the walking distance to many restaurants, bars, snacks, & Kona Inn Village. We had a corner room facing the ocean & hotel center side. Did like the size of the room & huge balcony. Ponds were nice to hear coming out of the room. I like the phone with cords. Most of the staff were nice and smiley. The least friendly staff would be in the restaurant & bar. The resort is in a great location next to the ocean (no beach access or near a beach) where you can watch the grand beautiful waves. Although no beach access, there is water access to a lagoon. Nice to hang and relax. Overall the property is decent.

This property is run down. Roach infested and water linking from the restrooms. I was moved from one room to another and conditions remained. I would not recommend a stay here. You are better off at a Motel 6.

The property is right on a commercial street and costal line, I like that. It is clean and most of the staff are nice. It is very noisy at night, even after midnight. The nearby restaurant On the Rock makes their long lasting annoying music too loud, that I hear it on 7th floor like I am in street hear 10 cars alarm on together. One front desk staff suggests to move me to different room in the middle of the the night, and another staff says nothing the hotel can do about the noise, that the restaurant is “following the law”-she wasn’t in my room experiencing the noise and measuring it. Very disappointed about how the property handles the on going noise problem.

Check in person was short with me when asking questions. If I would have known that there is a $30 (approximate) daily charge, I would not have booked at the resort. I thought we booked an ocean view, got move to a different building with upgrade (supposably) and room over looked parking lot. Room was not sound proof, as nearby bar music was clearly heard with window closed and sliding shutters closed. Very upset over all with Expedia (not clear explanation of resort charges) and hotel. READ the fine print.

Overall our stay at The Royal Kona Resort was amazing. Our ocean front view from our balcony was incredible. As they say.....location, location, location. The Luau on the property was great. Our dinners at Don's Maitai and tiki bar were the best. Really only one complaint. They have a 2 cup coffee maker in the room. We went to Walmart on the first night and bought a $13 12 cup coffee maker.Problem solved.

The property was a little outdated but taken care of well. Room service was on time every day. Staff was friendly and helpful. The area around the resort was nice and shops were easily walkable. Only complaint would be the area had a decent amount of homeless people but that isn't the resorts fault. Would definitely come back

Location, location, location. We had a corner room that was quite literally "on the rocks". Our most expensive room ever during our 53 years of marriage, but well worth the cost.

Renovating lagoon tower so got a discount. Very quiet workers. Rooms were spacious and had an ocean view. Also free look at luau. Parking 25 dollars a night. Good location right on ocean. They also have a salt water lagoon for hotel guests. Very nice and convenient

The Royal Kona Resort is my go to while visiting the Big Island. The people in front desk are always pleasant and Dons Mai Tai Bar will not disappoint. Great place to stay and walkable to local shops.

Did not get the room I requested. Down-graded to a small room overlooking the parking lot and loud street. Water damage from the floor above appeared that the ceiling might fall in! Room was dirty. Staff were unprofessional. many additional hidden charges. Overall a great dissapointment.

The hotel is in a great coastal setting but is in need of updates for the rooms and common areas - there did seem to be construction going on, but our room's bathroom is poorly functioning, carpets are dated, walls and stairwells are dirty looking and worn out. Service at the restaurant was really lacking - we were not offered seating at the bar while we waited for a table and even when we checked out the bar there was no one working there.

Loved this property, friendly staff, clean room, close to town. Nice to have a nice outdoor bar on the ocean. The pool and lagoon were great and not overcrowded in the morning. The only downside was the $100 per night deposit that I was not aware of. If would have been nice to know to plan accordingly.

The ocean view is great, property needs TLC, the doors to the balcony are stuck, hard to slide. Staff could be a little more friendlier, especially Kenny waiter at Luau came around and served the same guests right at our table at least 5 times while totally ignoring us even when we tried to ask him. Also, most of the seats were reserved at the luau, we went early but had very limited seating option. Other than that beautiful ocean views, good food at the hotel restaurant. Guest services could be a little better
