Really like this place. Updates are great. Lobby is nice and check in was smooth. Don’t love paying 39 bucks to park the car when the hotel was 144. Seems cheesy to stab you for parking like that. But all in all this is a great place to stay

When I got to the property, I was given a room with handicapped access although I did not need it and the bed was low on the floor so I had to ask for a different room. The person at the front never informed me that the room was handicapped, and it was a bit inconvenient to have to move my room. Also, I booked this hotel because it said they had a shuttle to the airport but I didn’t know the shuttle wasn’t available until 6 AM and my flight was leaving early so it didn’t help and I asked for the manager to call me to discuss this, and they promised me they would follow up and nobody ever called me.

The Sonesta was beautiful and the staff super friendly and helpful. Their shuttle driver, Pedro, was great...can't say enough about him. Our rooms were clean and amazing. The dining and downstairs area were so nice. We got in a little early so hung out and worked. So many options, very comfortable. The GM was nice. We came down for happy hour. The calamari was delicious. Would stay here next time over the Marriott where stayed the month before. It is now our go to hotel when we come to visit.

Our sink was flooded and AC was not working, yet maintenance did nothing about it. The hotel was testing fire alarms at 8 in the morning. Staff did not greet me upon arriving nor leaving. Water inside the hotel gym was warm. Do NOT stay here!

I liked the cleanliness and the upgraded rooms. I did not like the $39 additional parking fee or the additional costs for the property itself. I pay a resort fee for what? To pay extra at a restaurant that I won’t even go to? Overall due to the fact that everything costs extra at this hotel, it outweighs the cleanliness and upgraded rooms. The little things go a long way one way or another. It’s my own fault for choosing this hotel just for these particular reasons and I should’ve done more research on that myself. But $39 for parking is crazy it’s not even half full lol

I got stuck in the elevator for 10 min, i screamed for help and someone reseted the elevator and it slowly moved down to the lobby where i tried to brush this off. Because of this i wont be giving a good review. I am afraid of enclosed areas and this left me in shock.

I didn’t know it was a dog friendly hotel. Lots of big dogs walking around and the idea that dogs were in my room previously, did not sit well. There weren’t any extra toiletries available. Just soap and shampoo. The gym was very nice and clean. The pool, not so much. Parking was terrible. It’s self parking that is $28 per day. Not enough parking for all the cars in the lot so I spent 15 min waiting for a parking spot to open up. Hotel is very small but has a cute bar in the lobby along with a restaurant. Location of the hotel is good.

I have been going here every year since 2019, excluding 2020 and 2021. Their elevators are ALWAYS down. It is SO annoying! And they must only have a handful of luggage carts. So, checking and checking out is extremely laborious.

I needed a pet friendly hotel and they met that need. The staff was friendly to my dogs, there were water bowls in the lobby, they gave me a room near the elevator so I could quickly access it to take the dogs outside. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Everything was clean updated.

Good stay with a few complaints
I chose this hotel for my stay mainly due to the walking proximity to my business in Irvine, the fitness center, and for the stars to price ratio. Things I liked were the location, on site restaurant with excellent food, comfortable bed, outstanding shower, and the overall cleanliness of the room and fitness center. The safe in the room was useful as well. Things I didn't like were the lack of any lotion to apply to my dry skin after using their bath soap, lack of mouthwash since I forgot mine, and no real privacy since there is no option for do not disturb by housekeeping. The heater rattled and was louder than most at 52 dB on low, so I only turned it on while I was in the room, but I turned it off before bed. And most of all, I hated how the lights in the bathroom would turn off multiple times while I was in the middle of showering. They need to increase the motion time on their motion sensors. The $28 nightly parking fee is ridiculous for L.A. standards, but it seems to be the norm for Irvine hotels who can take advantage of people with cars. It's too bad this hotel does not advertise this rate anywhere.
