Quality Hotel

Publié le 3 mars 2014
Les + : Made us feel really welcome, staff made it and off course the hotel itself was faultless as far we were concerned.
Les - : If anything, would suggest that bar meals could be made available at a reasonable price if not wanting fine dining in the restaurant.
Situation : Location suited us as hill walkers etc, as long as have a car then not an issue, lovely part of Skye, no complaints.
Lovely hotel, staff were so friendly, couldn't do enough for us, seemed genuinely interested and not just going through a routine of pretending.

Nice, upscale hotel

Publié le 17 sept. 2013
Les + : Large, comfortable rooms, nice dining area with water and garden views, walk down to the water (Loch Hourn).
Les - : Although the food is very good, the cost of dinner (45 GBP/person) is high.
Situation : Easy to get to on the Sleat peninsula of Skye.
19th century country estate updated to be a very nice hotel. Nice water view, pretty gardens and landscaping, modern dining area and rooms. Our room was large and comfortable. The food was very good, though a bit pricey.

Beautiful friendly hotel

Beautiful hotel in a stunning location, staff very friendly, service and food superb. 5 course meal was fantastic, however would not be able to eat that for every night of stay, therefore would be good if other menus were made available. Would thoroughly recommend.

OK - if you want upscale and stuffy

Publié le 28 mai 2012
Rooms were nice. Most of the staff was very helpful. There were some staff that made us feel uncomfortable. We felt that the atmosphere was too upscale for a remote hotel on the Isle of Skye, and way too formal. I do not want to have to worry about a hotel's imagined need for old fashioned ettiquette while on vacation.

Fabulous hotel but beware of the cosy room/s

Publié le 16 août 2011
We were both really looking forward to visiting the Isle of Skye and this hotel in particular and we weren't disappointed. The location is magnificent, the hotel elegant, comfortable and stylish and the staff helpful and friendly but our room was extremely disappointing due to it's size. It was tiny and I mean tiny. The bed had obviously been specially made to fit the room and not the guests. It was described as Queen size but was certainly not. In fact in wasn't even double size. We estimated that it was a little over 3'6" wide and about 5'8" long. Lying on the bed you can easily touch the walls on both sides. The owners said that it was a standard British size, but we know that this is not the case from our experience and can certainly list many other hotels which supply king or super king sized beds for the same or less money in beautiful spacious rooms. The staff were great but the owners didn't seem to mind that we left unhappy. I can only suggest that they bite the bullet and reduce the numbers of rooms and create rooms that they can be proud of and that guests will leave happy. We hope that the owners take this suggestion on board to avoid this happening to other guests. We are disappointed that we have had to write this review as we truly loved this hotel.
