This is a campground that also includes a variety of 'cabins'. (e.g. the Oregan wagon). I enjoyed the Oregan Wagon but presumably it is only offered to those with sufficient fitness to clamber in 🙂. Less fit may simply be offered 'cabin 2', l enjoyed staying in previously.

This is a great value campground, located centrally in Greytown. It offers shaded and sunny campsites to suit preferences as well as some interesting "cabins", like the covered wagon and yurts.

Greytown Campground is a quiet, friendly & family oriented place. The grounds are laid out in a pleasing way for camping, being surrounded by large trees and a bush reserve. The cabins are neat, tidy and fairly soundproof. There is a great playground beside the campground and the local - free entry - swimming pool is next door. Greytown has lovely weather too.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Apologies you didn't find that the number of teabags provided were sufficient. We usually have the tea chest well stocked for a one night stay with teas of several varieties, coffee and sugar. Hope you enjoyed your stay in other ways.

Stayed in the gypsy caravan which is great if you don't have camping stuff. Bedding, cooking stuff, crockery and cutlery etc all included, and has electricity and appliances too.

Fun Camp Ground
This was a great camp ground with a quirky variety of choices. From gypsy caravan to standard cabin or camping. As the photos show. Very helpful host, showers, kitchen facilities etc just great. There is the city swimming pool right next door which was really welcome as the temp was in the 30s. I was very happy.

Maybe we expected too much, as two international travellers, having stayed at a similar, but excellent place before. Stayed in a caravan, but not a traditional gypsy one as per the picture, more retro from my childhood. Beds were comfy enough, but only 2 sheets for two beds. I would expect top and bottom sheets for two as there was no duvet. We were freezing on what was a chilly night and the added blankets were barely warm enough. The heater supplied was ineffectual on such a cold night. The shared kitchen did not have enough wash sinks so people were queueing for dish washing and there was not enough equipment for us. In summary it should be a good place to camp, if you bring all the gear and sleeping bags, but not exactly a glamping success.

I can assure you you booked and paid for the 'Retro' caravan you stayed in. So while I am sorry you were confused in what you booked, that 'Retro' caravan in the booking details asks that you bring own sleeping bags/bedding as none are provided. The blankets and sheets we provide are merely a top up for your own bedding if needed. Again in the booking details for that caravan it explains that there are no plates pots etc provided in the caravan, but once again we provide extra equipment for those that may need a little something to help make their stay more pleasant in the kitchen. Our communal equipment plates/pots and the like would never be able to service the number of guests we have on site at any one time. So once again I am sorry you made a mistake with your booking but you did get what you paid for. regards ken

KEN is GREAT! The facilities are adequate and probably reasonable for the package on offer. For people who love children playing around, this is a great place to be. I am one of those. Wish towels were provided.

This was an old fashioned campground with a central kitchen and bathrooms/laundry mainly for mobile campers and caravans. There are a couple of small cabins, and the Gypsy Caravan we stayed in. It sits in a park surrounded by native bush, close to town (about 400m) but in a quiet park which feels miles from anywhere. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the caravan was equipped with the basics for a cute and comfortable stay. You could make simple meals with the provided kitchenware, but anything more complex would be done in the shared kitchen. The bed was comfortable, the space warm and quiet (I don't know about Winter but there is a heater provided and we were fine in a wet December). There is also a yurt/tent available which was intriguing and I would try it next time if available. A note - the caravan is entered up a steep little ladder which needed care. Check if you have any mobility issues as it's a metre off the ground. Fun, quirky, cosy and cute. Recommended so long as you realise it's a campground not a motel.

Yes it is a quaint bygone era setting.. But the cabin was so tiny I ended up sleeping in the car it was too small for 2 of us.. I got woken by dinosaurs, and random cars driving thru the camp at 5 am... and the location of the toilets right round the back didnt feel very safe at 4am, the kitchen said it closed at 9 pm.. yet it remained open all night so there were young giggling females drinking in there half the night.. so when you are tired and really need to sleep... hope you arent close to the kitchen... For what it was.. I felt it was a bit over priced

Sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Considering the cabins are 10 square metres, and contain a bunk with a double bed on the bottom with single bed on the top we find it odd that you would claim they are too small and choose to sleep in your car. We have favorable reviews for our cabins as clean and tidy rooms, and perfectly suitable for budget accommodation which is what our prices are aimed at. Greytown is a very safe place and the toilet block is well lit, so it is unfortunate that you did not feel secure going to the toilet. We hope you enjoyed your visit to Greytown in other ways.

The camp ground operators Ken and Nina were easy going and friendly. The Gypsy Caravan is in a sheltered location and is bathed in afternoon sun. Access to the caravan is up three narrow and steep steps so it not suitable for people with disability or limited range of movement or strength.

Cosy Camp Site close to Greytown centre
Very pleasant, sheltered camp site on grounds within five minutes walk of the centre of the pretty town of Greytown. All facilities kept very clean. We rented a very basic small cabin for two and self-catered using the communal kitchen. Great value for money.
