J'ai apprécié cet hôtel dont les chambres (du moins la nôtre) était spacieuse et bien aménagée ... j'ai apprécié particulièrement la douche avec des plantes et le toit ouvert ... un SPA charmant et du personnel sympathique. On y a également bien mangé. Il faut néanmoins dire qu'il a de prime abord un aspect plutôt vieillot ...

This Hotel was breaching Electricity; Slips and trips; and HEALTH AND SAFETY Regulation and put our lives at risk. I never come a cross or heard of this kind of behaviour putting customers lives at risk to save few pence or to increase profit. Think not twice, hundred time before you put customers lives at risk like this... I only can say Group CEO and the Manager: Joseph should put themself in customer's (ours) shoes to understand is it worth killing customers for few pence of profit or cost cutting!!! I tried to call Expedia but not managed to speak to anyone before all my money run out from the mobile. That's worse! When we went to get something to eat before we leave the hotel, I mentioned to my husband it smell like a sewage near our room and when we checked there were some places near the footpath overflowing sewage mixed water outside from the drainages..Spoken to the Group CEO, Mr M I M Nizar and he was trying to convince us that this hotel is in a jungle and NOT in the city of Polonnaruwa!!! According to the Group CEO, as a customer, we should expect animal droppings on the bed as well as dead animals on the floor and the bathroom area including no lights and be able to clean it ourself without making any fuss!!! I mentioned that I am a patient with heart, diabetic and several other illnesses therefore any animal bit could be very dangerous for me. He laughed say that's nothing to worry about! This is NOT A FIVE STAR HOTEL and MAY BE EVEN HELL IS BETTER THAN THIS...

Lovely relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings
Having just spent 5 nights at this hotel we can definitely recommend it. It was ideally placed for our self organised tour of Sri Lanka and, from here, we visited the iconic sites of Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Dambulla and the fabulous Hurulu national park where we saw many elephants. Our lakeside cottage at the hotel was very quaint and we loved sitting on the decking watching the monkeys and chipmunks running around. Staff at the hotel are very welcoming and the pool area is lovely. The hotel does get frequented by coach parties and we enjoyed the breakfast and evening buffets alongside quieter a la carte dinners on the outside terrace on the nights when there were fewer guests

Good option in Giritale
Very nice hotel over looking a lake with great sunset views from the well designed hotel grounds. The accommodation was of a good standard as were the facilities. The condition of the hotel was generally good.

Peace and quiet
This place is amazing if you like peace and quiet. Service is excellent and close enough by tuk tuk to everything. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to come back again

Peaceful & quite
Staff were friendly and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. The location itself was serene with a wonderful view of the lake from the observation deck. Food was amazing with a wide choice of both local and international cuisine.

Not as good as it could have been..
A little over-priced - gym was locked (and surrounded by cardboard boxes) [so went for a run down the road, which was actually much better); dinner was good, breakfast was average (lots of cooked to order items - good; but no real juice and poor selection of bread and fruit). Currently they are building several new apartments, but the building work was not intrusive. There was a wedding on the Saturday - loud music made the pool unusable - but could not be heard from the room. And if I am being really picky - we had 2 high quality towels each on the first night, which we would have been happy to keep for another day, but they got changed when the room was cleaned and replaced with one each of a smaller less fluffy one... only a small thing - but irritating nonetheless.

Lovely hotel setting sounded by forest trees.
The hotel is set amongst trees and lawns over looking the lake at Giratale. We had a lovely big room next to the pool. Many of the rooms are high up on the hill. There was a tree growing in the semi open air bathroom. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Roy the manager was more than helpful in organising tours to ancient cities and the elephant safari. We would definitely recommend and stay again.

Beautiful hotel !! Smiling, helpful and professional staff. Perfect decoration of the common parts. Some renovation would be needed in the bathroom but good price-quality return.

Really disappointing - terrible food
Very disappointed with our stay at Deer Park. Whilst the setting itself is nice, each building is very close to the next, taking away any feeling of space. The real let-down though was the food situation. Breakfast was the worst we experienced in Sri Lanka in terms of quality and taste. Dinner was a buffet which looked like it had been left out for weeks containing un-appetising food. We order al-la-carte in the end, and half of that appeared to have been assembled for us from the buffet. It would have been OK if there were alternate options anywhere in the vicinity, but you're stuck with just the hotel options food wise. Also, the driver arranged by the hotel wasn't great - a very tired old car and he tried to take us to every shop under the sun on our last day with him...

Room smelt a bit dump, was clean otherwise. No wifi in rooms, only in public arrears. Waiter got order wrong twice, but were offered deserts and salads to make up for it.

Heerlijk verblijf!
Ontzettend genoten tijdens het verblijf in Deer Park (gezin met 4 kids). Erg goed diner (buffet) en ontbijt. Prima kamers. Heerlijk zwembad. Ligt erg mooi maar wat achteraf. Maar 1 nacht daar verbleven en weet niet wat de mogelijkheden (restaurants) buiten de accommodatie zijn. Uitzicht op het meer.

Beautiful Setting, Attentive Service
It was lovely. Low season is in May and hardly any guests. Actually an ideal time to visit as you get undivided attention. If it was full, I would not stay there as there are lots of rooms and it has a slightly institutional feel. Definitely not a retreat in the woods, though that is the setting.

Great experience
I think Deer Park can easily qualify as one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka. Great property and well maintained. Lovely view and cottages. You will need a car to get there and a short drive away to the city.

スパ料金は安く、フットマッサージが上手かった。早朝出発だったが、朝食時間を融通してくれ助かった。軍基地が近くにある関係か、軍関係者が複数宿泊しており、リラックスした雰囲気ではなかった。チェックインタイムが遅かったからか、ロビーは散らかっており、ソファーにも食べ残しのようなものがあり、清潔感はなかった。客室はお洒落に内装してあったが、置いてあるクッションが若干汗臭いような臭いがし、清潔感については改善が多くの望まれる。

A sanctuary after spending the day in the heat. It's a convenient distance from the cultural triangle and the big lake in front of it is very scenic

Great hotel near many thing you want to see
A warm and professional welcome at the reception. Same quality service throughout our stay. Our room was beautifully and comfortably decorated, the funky shower was a nice surprise. I recommend the spa and the masseur there. This hotel is near both to Polonnaruwa and the Eco park where most elephants could be found after a rainy period. many local safari guides chose this park over Minneriya in season.

Deer Park ,Giritale - excellent mid-level stays
Attractive lay-out, attentive service, 'cool' bathroom, generally comfortable and smooth running; bar food and drink at night on the terrace, buffet breakfast and the outdoor swimming pools especially good. The food was real food (local fruit yummy!) and the staff were very helpful and always kind. The price and location are right for above average but not extravagant hotelling - just right for us. Hotels.com did a great job for us. J&C Australia.

Good hotel to see central Sri Lanka!
This is not hotel on the lake, as it may appear from pics, while some deluxe bungalos overview the lake over local road. This is real hotel in the jungles, very natural and nice! Good design, good management, good food - buffet when a lot of visitors, and ala carte in more intimate moments. You ll need driver and car to travell around, its very reliale and cost about 120$... Car from/to Colombo was 160$ for us (7 hours).. 2-3 days needed to see all places around!

a quiet place to relax
spent 4 days in the resort where tranquility is the main element cordial staff and good restaurant food a place to enjoy a good book, row in the lake, trek the rofest and sip a cocktail while reading a good book bathrooms and showers need renovations!
